Want / Do Not Want

Can you do a list of 5 players that you want and 5 players that you do not want?

Trying to keep it realistic here - I don't think that the Heat will give up LeBron, or the Cavs Kyrie Irving or anything like that. But rather pretty realistic options of players whom you would like to see in a Rockets uniform (and be willing to pay a pretty penny for them) and players that you flat out do not want anywhere near this team!

Want:

1) Jonas Valanciunas
2) Marc Gasol
3) James Harden
4) Chris Bosh
5) Marcin Gortat

DO NOT WANT!!!

1) Amare Stoudemire
2) Carlos Boozer
3) Al Jefferson
4) Josh Smith
5) Devon Harris

Honestly - the only reason why Smith is on that list is because I think that he'd cost far more than I'd be willing to pay to get him. I just don't see him as the closer type we need.

if someone can post a link for 2012 free agents, that would be swell. in 2010 there was a site that listed them by tiers, instead of by team

I'm not going for a contending team. Just players that could make us significantly better.

WANT:

Josh Smith - I don't think he's a bad fit at all. He's well worth his contract, and its only for two more seasons (12.4mil, 13.2mil). Got snubbed badly in this years all star game. Him, D-Mo and parsons could make a killer fast break frontcourt without giving up much size. If we're not gonna get a superstar, nor have any great half court scorers, then one way of making up for that is finding fast, athletic players who can run the break. If we keep dragic, it makes it that much better. Who knows, could get us a top 10 attendance.

Chris Kaman - Not a flashy choice, but he provides on both sides of the court. We need help in scoring from the frontcourt, he could be a good short term option for that. Won't give up anything on defense and rebounding.

Deron Williams - The best available superstar in this offseason imo. Wouldn't be surprised if he stayed with the nets. With all that hype and talk and everything, there's a lot that i don't know about.

Chuck Hayes - Underrated Dominating Frontcourt Plan Two. Still involves the one and only, Chuck Hayes :D.

Omer Asik - Potential

Andre Igoudala - Sry had to add one more. I wanted him on the rockets since the tmac trade rumors. Sixers need to make changes if they wanna get better. Trading 'dre could get them some good help. And as i said with josh smith, adding athletic players would help us out.

DO NOT WANT:

KEVIN MARTIN - DUUUUUUUUUUUH

Dwight Howard - baby trapped in a bbg's body :nonono:

Pau Gasol - 19mil for two years, doesnt wanna be in houston, oast his prime, and you guys want him?

Amare Stoudemire - yuck

Ryan Anderson - as a top 3 player on your team, you're supposed to step your game up in the playoffs, not the exact opposite. clearly he didnt get the memo :(

since this is a thread for players you realistically want, why do u guys think marc gasol and harden would be traded from their teams? if okc trades harden, they need a solid post scorer in return, and memphis would have to do some serious retooling to trade gasol

Harden is still under his rookie contract - not realistic to trade him now, since they wont get equal value return
Gasol is also unlikely, but Memphis is over the cap, it's unlikely they will keep their front line Gasol+Randolph+Gay, since Randolph and Gay don't seem to play well together, one of those will most likely gone
LaMarcus Aldridge is unlikely too, but i like him

i think rudy gay would be the odd man out. zach was healthy last playoffs and they got to the 2nd round. with rudy back and zach not at 100% they couldnt get past the 1st round. trading rudy for depth and 3pt shooting would make them a dangerous team.

Want:
Dwight
Deron Williams
Royce White ( :) )
Camby @ MLE or less for 2 years or ~$3M or less for 4 years.
Lee @ MLE or less (would probably even give him a little more if I had to)

Do not want:
Amare
Al Jefferson
Derrick Williams
Gay
Hibbert (not for the money he'll command, anyway)
Free BJs from Sara Jay

Kinda want/for the right price:
Dragic (Would like to get him for the cheap ($6-7M), but probably willing to go as high as $9M)
Bynum (He'd be right up there on the want list, but his knees still scare the **** out of me)
Josh Smith (Used to hate his game, but for whatever reason don't anymore. Not really sure why)
Gasol (as long as we don't Lowry or multiple picks for him, why not...)
Asik (I'd make a bid for him, but rather not go overboard with the offer. If the Bulls match, fine.)

^^^ question to x, I like white as well but aren't you worried about the fact he has no defined postion?
Anyways,
Want:
1) Josh Smith- I think a lot of the criticism Josh is getting is based on the OLD Josh Smith. I agree he is not the closer type we need, but he would be a great second option and he has a VERY good all around game. The only knock on him is that he settles for the jump shot

2) Deron Williams- self explanatory. He doesn't think the mavericks are a good long term option(I agree) but I still doubt he comes here. The nets and lakers are probably the most like destinations.

3) Lemarcus Aldridge- Really good PF that can do everything. I think he gets lost in the shuffle sometimes and I don't know if it's because he's not flashy or what. I still think him and batum are untouchable though.

4) Harden- theres no way they trade him because of the rookie contract, not even realistic but I'd throw as much money at him as possible if we could, he's a very good scorer and an underrated playmaker.

5) Hibbert- Indiana not using him enough is what really hurt them in the series. People forget that he's still developing and he already has what a lot of the centers with "potential"(d. jordan, j. mcgee, etc.) don't have.... AN OFFENSIVE GAME.

Realistic options I'd like: Kaman, Asik(he passes the eye test), Paul Milsap,

Do Not Want

1) Gortat- I really don't see what he does for us besides makes us a more superior mediocre team. He's an above average center... but what would we have to give up?

2) Pau Gasol- first of all I think we all know gasol is a mental case and he doesn't want to be here. At the most(unless we contend) we have him for two years and he goes somewhere else to chase a ring. Add to that his contract and I'm ok, I really don't want him if he's going to be starting with d-mo/scola, TERRIBLE front court defense.

3) Rudy Gay- I like gay's game and I don't think he's "joe johnson overpaid" but I don't think he's worth it for the money.

4) Ryan Anderson- He's a scorer who doesn't make his team better, period. He's a damn good 3 pt shooter but I don't think he's gonna be worth the money.

5) A'mare "struggle braids" Stoudemire- No grown man with braids shall prosper in 2012... nuff said.

On the Fence:
Dragic- because of the price of course, and theres no way IN HELL we're getting him for 6 mil

Al Jefferson- underrated on both sides of the ball but still not a "go to" player

Dwight Howard- okay yea I'd love to have him. But I HATE his soft a** more than any player in the league after the ish he's done this off-season.

*I didn't include marc gasol or granger on the want list because I don't see them going anywhere....

Yeah, a little bit I guess. I think he'll end up playing mostly PF. I think he's a "good tweener".

Gasol could be trade. Memphis has to much money tied up into Marc, Gay, and Conley to actually make themselves better. Also have to extend Zack. Right? And then their is also Mayo so no telling what they may do.

Mr. E did not say if this is only for 2012, so Harden could be had in 2013. See very little chance of OKC being able to keep Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka. If I was OKC I would look to keep HArden and trade Westbrook.

rudy would be the first guy they wanna trade. gasol is a prototype bbg, rudy is a dime a dozen athletic scoring wing.

i'd think okc trades westbrook or harden. im lazy right now so w/e

I love when you say that. That and "I'll cut your throat!"

Anyway, I don't see the Thunder trading either Harden or Westbrook.

I think it's gonna come down to Ibaka and/or Perkins.

Hey, Grizzlies fan here. I was wondering if you think the Rockets are going to show any interest in Rudy Gay if/when he hits the trading block?

In my opinion, the Grizz would be looking for a guard (any of Lowry/Dragic/K-mart) + #14 and perhaps Budinger or Parsons (I think Budinger might be ideal for our team given his athleticism and Parson's FT shooting struggles).

As I understand it, HOU has cap space, and from what I can tell there is some discontent with K-mart and the feeling that the team will not pay Dragic unless Lowry is traded.

Thoughts?

sorry but we wanna keep parsons. he's got potential to be a solid starting sf. said he's gonna work on his shooting, fts, 3pt, and bulk up this offseason. i dont want him traded
