Ed Davis is pretty good. I don't think Toronto gives up on him already.

we're thinking of trading our 8th + jose for deng and 29th
and trading for one of your picks to draft a guy like rivers or lamb(if hes up)
ed has potential, but our GM is in his final year and would do anything to get a contract extention and get our guys to the playoffs.

I think that you're expecting a bit too much there. I do get that Calderon would be useful for Chicago and is a very nice expiring; but if they are giving up Deng then they get that big expiring and the #8. You don't get the #29 back.
I don't see you guys realistically getting the #29 back, so I can't say that the Rockets would or would not trade down. Of the guys you listed as sweeteners, I would think that Ed Davis has the most value, but unfortunately for you he is at a position that is the most set for this team now (even if we trade Scola or Patterson).
I think that you need to get that initial Chicago trade down before you start trying to sell the return pieces. No matter what I don't think that Houston would be interested in what you are offering; but they would be interested in using those picks to move up.
Consolidation/Moving Up is where any Houston/Toronto deal would lie.

thats a bad trade, the bulls get so much.
u guys should rather draft leonard or zeller with that 14th or 16th pick than giving both for joa

I could see Houston trading down from 16 to twenties then shipping that 20 something out for a future pick. Basically get two future picks.

I could see that.
I'll be surprised if Houston makes both picks.

Really?
How about 22 and a 2013 first (some protection would have to be on it) for #16?

Heard a rumor of Dalembert+16 on the move. Any reasons why Houston would do that? There's a very high possibility of Laker involvement if it's true. That said all indications are that Gasol has nothing to do with this and that Houston is done with that, while the Lakers in fact really do want to keep Gasol.

Interesting...
As for Gasol - yeah, I think that we've all been over this so many times everyone knows what everyone is going to say!

I don't see a good reason for the Lakers to move him because I don't see him getting close to his actual on-court value back. The Lakers are better off keeping him right now rather than move him at his low point in value.
But Dally & 16...I see both pieces as highly likely to be moved, I'm just not sure what they'd be doing there. Are we trying to move up? I don't think that package would get anyone ahead of us to nudge. I could see it as part of a trade down for a lower pick and a player whom Morey might have his eye on (think Lowry, Lee in terms of their value when we brought them in).

Ya we're done with the Gasol talks, we need a stretch 4 so that L.A. doesn't run into the same problems it had last year but moving Gasol just means you need another backup C.
I don't understand the Dalembert+16 talk. It could be that Houston moves up with that buyout being a part of the talks. It could also be that Houston wants to not even pay 1.5m entirely in the deal, but that would mean they have exact requirements to what they need in free agency as far as cap space.
Trying to see what Houston and L.A. could do together in terms of a deal that would benefit both for 16. Tough to see.
Update: It's to move up. They'll use their flexibility to see if they can a lotto pick.

I don't see us dealing directly. I do see Morey & Kupchak roping in some other sucker GM on a multi-team trade, tho.

Perhaps L.A. sends a third team their TPE in exchange for Dalembert. L.A. gets their first round pick late, while Houston gets their move up, and the third team gets a downgrade to 16 with a clean cap.
G.S. maybe with their 30th pick. Houston sends 16+Dalembert for that Biedrins+7, then L.A. sends TPE to buyout Dalembert (paying 3m essentially to get 30).
Find the team that has a definitive need of cap room and is in the lottery.

IMO, Biedrins contract is a pretty steep price to pay to move up to 7, where all the decent prospects will already be gone.

Last year it sounded like the Rockets were willing to take on Biedrins if the player that they wanted at the 8 was available. I don't see any reason why the Rockets would be opposed to taking on Biedrins this season if the player that they want is available at th #7 pick.
