Post your pipe dream

After reading on the trade board, I had a pipe dream.
Theres a poll on who has more value, Granger or Lowry? Lowry is winning in a landslide. One Pacers fan even mentioned that he would be happy to trade Granger if we would take Collison. Read on the Hawks board that they are on board to trade Smith or Horford, and one proposal was Dalembert+Martin+Patterson+14th for Smith/Williams. I countered with Scola+Martin+Patterson+Dalembert+14 for Smith/Horford.
This would have to be a 3 way deal to absorb Grangers contract in place of Lowrys
Out: Lowry+Martin+Scola+Patterson+Dalembert+14
In: Granger/Smith/Horford/Collison
Horford/Camby
Smith/Sullinger @ 18
Granger/Parsons/Morris
Lee/Lamb @ 16
Dragic/Collison

Yo, that would be a playoff team certainly. And I'm definitely on board with tanking for 2-4 years.

Trade Martin and Scola for future picks or a really high speed internet modem
Re-Sign Dragic
Dragic/Marshall

Camby/Dalembert
Still a work in progress, but not a bad starting point.

Pipe dream?
- Trade Kevin Martin, Kyle Lowry, Samuel Dalembert, Greg Smith, #14, #16 to Orlando for Dwight Howard.
- Draft Marquis Teague
- Sign Deron Williams to max contract
- Re-sign Camby to cheap two year deal
- Re-sign Lee to long term deal
- Sign and Trade Dragic to LA Lakers for trade exception, future pick
Dwight Howard / Marcus Camby
Luis Scola / Patrick Patterson
Chandler Parsons / Marcus Morris
Courtney Lee
Deron Williams / Marquis Teague
Top team in the west instantly. Dwight is ecstatic, plus we have room to improve. Plan for next summer:
- Sign Dwight to an extension
- Amnesty Luis Scola
- Sign James Harden to a max (next options are Tyreke Evans and Monta Ellis)
If Patterson, Parsons, and Morris keep improving, they are a very solid set of role players next to our 'big 3'.
Howard / Camby
Patterson
Parsons / Morris
Harden / Lee
Williams / Teague

- Sign Eric Gordon to max
- Draft a PF like Perry Jones III, Terrence Jones,
- Draft a SG like Austin Rivers, Jeremy Lamb
Dwight
Patterson / #16
Parsons / Morris
Gordon / #14
Williams
My idea to get the Rockets back to Title Contention

Been wanting to post this for awhile but too lazy. this is a realistic pipe dream btw (assume anyone mentioned with a player/team option is picked up and that we didnt trade budinger)
Sign Dragic to a 4 year/30mil deal, 4th year team option
Sign Camby to 3 year Vet Min, 3rd year team option
Sign Lee to a 4 year/20 mil deal
3 team blockbuster trade with the Hawks and Sixers
-Houston Trades...Lowry, Scola, Martin, Dalembert, Morris, Patterson, Budinger, and any 2012 pick
-Houston Receives from Hawks...Smith and Williams = 21mil in 2012-13
-Houston Receives from SIxers...Iguodala and Young = 23mil in 2012-13
-Sixers Receive from Rockets...Martin, Patterson, Budinger, Morris, and 2012 pick = 18mil in 2012-13
-Hawks Receive from Rockets...Lowry, Scola, Dalembert = 21mil in 2012-13
Rockets New Roster = 63-68mil salary in 2012-13
PG - Dragic / 2012 pick / FA
SG - Iguodala / Lee
SF - Parsons / Marvin / Young
PF - Smith / Motiejunas / Young
C - Camby / 2012 pick / FA
Hawks New Roster
Lowry / Teague
JJ /
???
Horford / Scola
Dalembert / Zaza
Sixers New Roster
Jrue /
Martin
Turner / Bud
Brand / Patterson / Morris
Hawes / Vuc
Why Houston does it - No big free agents wanna sign or be traded to Houston. Why i dunno could be a number of things. How the tmac situation ended, low balling Landry, the micromanage moneyball tactics, or maybe the terrible hot/humid weather...jk (but really i couldnt stand that heat). They could try the tank/rebuild method which im not opposed to, but here's an alternative.
Stay semi-competitive, meaning a 2nd round/conf finals team. Do this for 2-3 years, maybe 4 years. Rockets will get more recognition and respect consistently making deep runs in the playoffs, they'll be fun to watch. When Iguodala and Smith's contract is up, resign at least one of them, so everyone knows you're willing to pay. Already got Lee and Dragic to long contracts. So in 2-4 years, after getting a lot more recognition, Rockets start attracting more big free agents. This is when the Front Office makes some moves to make this team a contender (and get rid of Young's terrible contract).
Why ATL does it - Finally get to move Horford to his real pf position by having dalembert at center. Get a good starting pg in Lowry on a bargain contract, and having Scola as the 6th man is a huge boost for their bench. If Scola's on the decline, he'd be most effective as a 6th man. He won't have much trouble against most team's second units.
Why Philly does it - Get another chance to make a deep playoff run by trading for an offensive specialist in Kevin Martin and some depth. EDIT - Kevin gets traded, what he wanted, and another chance to get a good contract. He can be their leading scorer, so he'll definitely try his best to be a 20pt scorer. Sixers Get back 5mil less so they can add that to their long list of expirings this offseason. Trading Young will open up more minutes for Vucecic to develop, and get to see how well Morris turns out. All four players traded to them are expirings, so thats 18mil off the books next season. Add Elton Brand's 18mil contract, that's nearly 40mil of cap space in 2013 offseason. Two straight years of huge cap space
EDIT - assume dragic and parsons improve, motie becomes a solid backup/spot starter, rookie pg can make 3s, and rookie center develops into a solid defensive/rebounding big. team makes some minor trades throughout the years and drafts good players. the roster is designed to run n gun, but can play a good halfcourt game and still good on defense. not that great with spacing, but good enough for the playoffs.

Trade Martin anywhere for a slab of beer. (24 stubbies, Carlton Draught is preferable!)
Somehow get a healthy Bogut, and Sign Patty Mills as Dragic's backup after Lowry is moved.
Hey, it's the Aussie in me.
Hakeem has an illegitimate son somewhere, and he is a bigger Freak than Hakeem was. He wants nothing more than to break all of his Father's records, and will only play in the NBA if he can play for Houston. The kicker being, he'll play for 5 million a season, even though he's worth max money.
Puff, Puff, Pass.

I forgot, get the Chuck Wagon back, as well as Landry.
And I want a personal apology from Morey for ever trading Landry away. And as a way of apologising, he sends me and my family a private jet, flies me to Houston, and I watch a few games sitting courtside with Hakeem.......
I think I have moved from the pipe to "harder" substances.

I would like watching this team but yea I agree with the opinions above. The biggest problem? Where are our shooters? Dragic can not be the best scorer we have 1-3. Iggy is a great addition to anyones team but he can not be counted on to score. Parsons is similar to iggy, very good defender, streaky offense, athletic(less athletic then iggy of course) so I don't see how having them on the floor at the same time would benefit. Then we have a problem at pf/c, on defense we would be good but offense would be a problem. Smith is best suited playing next to a center who can shoot of the pick and roll since his strength is facing up and posting up. I like the pieces individually but not as a team, sorry for the rant lol....

Yes I foresaw all of you would say that, and even the voices in my head said that.
So Dragic, Lee, Parsons, Marvin, Motie, and maybe the rookie pg aren't enough shooting to compensate for lack of space Iguodala, Smith, and Camby bring?
Anyway since i got way too much time on my hands, Ima make another one, with more shooting

ok this is still a realistic pipe dream with some changes
Sign Dragic to a 4 year/30mil deal, 4th year team option
Sign Camby to 3 year Vet Min, 3rd year team option
Sign Kaman to a 3 year/15mil deal
Sign Lee to a 4 year/20 mil deal
3 team blockbuster trade with the Hawks and Hornets

-Houston Receives from Hawks...Smith and Williams = 21mil in 2012-13

-Hawks Receive from Rockets...Lowry, Scola, Dalembert = 21mil in 2012-13
Rockets New Roster = 57-59mil salary in 2012-13
PG - Dragic (7mil) / 2012 pick (1.5mil) / FA
SG - Gordon (10mil) / Lee (5mil)
SF - Parsons (1mil) / Marvin (8mil) / Aminu (3mil)
PF - Smith (13mil) / Motiejunas (1.5mil)

Why NOH does it - Shed a lot of salary by trading Gordon, Kaman, and Aminu. Two straight seasons of huge capspace. In return they get some help with rebuilding with young players that'll have more room to grow being on a lottery team, a 2012 first round pick. And Kevin Martin has another chance to get a good contract being on a lottery team, he has the green light to shoot as much as he wants. This is the easiest way for him to get his reputation back as a top 10sg.
assume dragic and parsons improve. parsons specifically makes huge improvements, becomes a 10pt scorer w/ all his other intangibles. motie becomes a solid backup/spot starter, rookie pg can make 3s. rookie center could learn a lot from kaman and camby, develops into a solid defensive/rebounding big with some post moves. team makes some minor trades throughout the years and drafts good players. and not too many injuries from our two centers and gordon. i think kaman has one more good run left in him, he just turned 30 this april.
