Camby to pick between 6 teams, including Houston, but...

The unrestricted free-agent center, Marcus Camby, has narrowed his choices to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets, a league source told CSNNW.com.

All of these teams and then some, called Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan, shortly after July 1 hit, inquiring about his services, but at this point in his career, he's primarily considering teams in contention for a championship, the same source said.

so the rockets need to make some big moves to keep one of the best defensive centers in the league on one of the cheapest contracts. makes sense for him since he's in the finals years in the league.

i dont want asik to be our only defensive center with size. these two splitting minutes at center would make a good defensive center rotation. if we cant keep camby we need to get someone else.

Looks like Camby is leaning towards Houston. On Jun 28 he was working of Gogi for us and has mentioned Houston is the home team, just waiting on the word

I was a little surprised that he seemed to be considering other teams when he's been wanting to play in/retire in Houston for the longest time seems like; though I wouldn't blame him if he bolted to a contender. But based on his twitter account, definitely gives off the feel that he wants to stay if we offer a contract.

Correction: Someone reminded me that the Rockets pick was sent to Atlanta in the Johnson deal. Still, they have similar picks eventually. For those dreaming of those 1sts, that’s best-case scenaris for a Camby s-and-t. Seeing other deals, wouldn’t rule out, but still best case.

Earliest 1st round pick from NY would be 2018. Does not appear that 1st round picks are involved at least not from the Knicks standpoint.
