Is Houston going to be active in the trade market as the deadline nears?

Chad Ford (1:17 PM)

Hearing yes in a major way. They like their backcourt and feel that they are set at the five. Upgrading the 4 looks like the biggest priority ... but could also look to upgrade at the 3 (though Chandler Parsons is having a good season). Rockets still have a number of young assets to offer.

:( Plz anyone but Parsons!... Doesn't really make sense unless we get Gay & Randolph

Problem is Houston doesn't really have any big contracts to trade even with young assets. I'd think they'd still look at Cousins since he's easier to match and Sacto is moving to Seattle. Cousins can play the 4 or 5 and would give the Rockets an offensive option in the post. I just hope they'd move Patterson before Morris.

Something like Patterson/DMot for Cousins

Lin, depends not sure how high Les is still on him.
Smith
Motie/Jones
Beverley, his contract gives me reason to believe he will be here for a while

Rest of the roster is expendable.

IMO
46% Douglas
44% Morris
36% Aldrich
33% Patterson
27% Jones
19% Delfino
16% D-Mo
12% Smith
9% White
7% Parsons
6% Asik
5% Lin
4% Anderson
0.91% Beverley
0.00% Harden

I'm not sure how it came to this, but I've talked myself into it.

Will he a be Rocket?

A.) Yes.

or

b.) YES!

I think there's a pretty good chance. :) :-? :wizard:

Rockets can't afford to trade for millsap. I'm cool pursuing him in FA however.

Do not want, isn't Millsap also under 6'7?
I'd rather stick with Morris over millsap

Yeah, if it happens, I think it's most likely via free agency. If he could be had for the cheap (Morris), then I'd do that too, obviously.

Morris is just starting his career and I don't think he sucks. He's been effective spreading the floor for the Rockets. Let him get some more time on the floor and he will improve.

Rockets aren't going to trade their 3 bigger contracts (Harden, Asik, Lin) which basically means they're not getting a big contract in return so I think Millsap is out until summer. I haven't looked through salaries too much, but Cousins still makes sense and then using Morris as the change of look.

You are too good of a poster to be posting things like this.

Morris is a second year player. A player isn't going to be what he is going to be in the NBA until his 3rd year.

I really REALLY want Cousins... perfect player for this team. Can shoot, rebound, run. Every game he one or two fast break dunks off of steals, he got the quick hands like Dirk but more psychical.

Trade anyone on this team for him except for Harden, and Parsons of course.

But Parsons & Asik would probably be the only players they have interest. If they would take Lin instead of Parsons/Asik I would do it in a heartbeat. We could probably get back one of their pg(Brooks, Thomas or Jimmer)

Harden
Parsons
Cousins
Asik

PG are so much easier to find especially for Morey.

Rockets aren't trading Lin..

Lin
Harden
Parsons
Cousins
Asik

Morris
Delfino

Hope Douglas sticks around. I like what he brings to the squad. That leaves Patterson, Jones, and DMO as appetizing prospects... Sacto tanks the rest of the way and gets a nice lottery pick courtesy of David Stern.

Sacramento has Jason Thompson & just drafted Thomas Robinson who is a better rebound, better defender, and more athletic than all those guys... I doubt they want more PF's.

They 2,3 & 5 are the hardest positions to fill imo.

The only thing they would want is Parsons, Asik, maybe Lin idk how happy they are with Brooks/Thomas/Jimmer.

I don't don't think anyone besides Harden is untouchable. If Lin was more consistent, or if the Rockets had a better attendance record and Lin had a top Jersey then yea I would say he would be untouchable...
But Houston is in the bottom half of the league in attendance.
I think Les prefers winning over anything else and Cousins is far and way the best player for this team.

If it means giving up Asik you do it, Lin you do it, Parsons you do it... but not all 3.
2 of the 3 I would be ok with.
1 of the 3 I would be ecstatic.

Morey said on 790 that although he doesn't think you need a post player, if the Rockets were to acquire one, he wants the guy to be a 5 not a 4, so the paint doesn't get clogged for Harden and Lin.
He also said some time ago that ideally they'd like to pair Harden with a great big and that they'd prefer one that's great on D over one that great on O.

So unless you think they'd trade Asik, you can rule out Cousins, who isn't exactly a defensive beast, either. The same goes for Al Jefferson & Pau (not that there was any reason to believe the Rockets might go after either one in the first place).
Josh Smith isn't a post player, but he also can't shoot. Rule him out, too. Can't see the Rockets going after Ilyasova. Maybe Ryan Anderson... don't think so, though.

So either you

1.) spend money on Millsap
2.) go small-ball with Parsons and a Granger/Gallinari type via trade
3.) go for one of the big names: Bosh, Love, LMA via trade
4.) don't spend money on anybody, nor trade for anyone and roll with the young guys

I guess there's a chance that some team might offer Millsap stupid money, but I think he's the most likely option.

I may irrationally dislike Morris, but I really just don't think he's very good, honestly. Sure, he should get better over time, but I think his ceiling is Al Harrington-ish, which... you know isn't bad, but it doesn't get me too excited either.

Well Cousins IS a face up player, he likes to plays on the perimeter but he also likes to play in the post. He has super nice handles. If Morey wouldn't go after Cousins because of Harden/Lin than he his a fool.

I remember Morey saying that this is a stars league, and you need two stars to have a chance at winning.
Millsap doesn't make this team a contender, he is barely putting up better numbers than Morris, neither does playing Parsons at the 4...

Also who was the last team to win anything without a guy who could score in the post?
We don't have one single guy on this team who even has a post move... ok well there is Patterson but it is not at all effective.

Especially not that fool from Utah...
