Trade for Granger

Granger's production went down a little this year playing next to west and Indiana is trying to give Paul George as much PT as possible so it is very likely they would be very open to moving granger. Granger has elite scoring capability, which the Rockets haven't had since T-mac left and fills a team need. Here's the trade:
Rockets Trade: K. Martin, L. Scola, Rights to R. White (plus P.Paterson if they want him)
Rockets Recieve: D. Granger, L. Barbosa (S&T)
Other Moves
Also Trade K Lowry for whoever is willing to give up a 1st round pick next year
Sign Asik from the bulls
Camby's not coming back, give that money to R. Lewis. Yes, R. Lewis Houston native who can stretch the floor, make up for Asik's lack of offence, and make life easier for the gaurds and get him cheap for one year.
Resign Lee
Roster
C - Asik, Motie
PF - R. Lewis, Motie, T. Williams, J. Leuer
SF - D. Granger, Parsons, T. Williams
SG - J. Lamb, C. Lee, S. Livingston
PG - G. Dragic, L. Barbosa
Team can score points, defend, and has depth. Built to be good now while Motie, Lamb, & Williams develop. Might even make the playoffs.

Im all for trading for granger even though I don't know if indy would accept that package unless the get eric gordon. You are wrong abouT one thing though, granger is NOT an elite scorer. There are a lot of players that score better than him, what he is however is one of the best ALL AROUND players in the league. I think he would be an incredible second option(and he'd work as a #1 for the time being) but I don't see indy giving him up... I know bird said he's untouchable but he's gone now so I don't know

Not an elite scorer? What would you call someone who can get you 20-25 points per night?

If we are looking a scorer I would rather have the much younger Eric Gordon well if we can keep Lamb, White, Montie

Rocketseagle, thats what ive been trying to say! I dont know why some people are negative towards acquiring players like Granger, Monta, Igguodala, etc....They wanna see this team succeed, but would rather get players like Chuck Hayes, Jeremy Lin, or keepin Lee (though I like him, heis useless to us with this current roster). This team needs a complete makeover, and keep only Parsons. I want Eric Gordon and Granger. I dont care, acquiring these two would at least make us 5 or 6 wins better than we are now.

Im in on Granger. Camby SHOULD be coming back! All he wants is 2 years 3 mil! Outstanding contract value wise. Im on the fence about Shard tho. 6-7 years ago, I wanted him badly though.

Preachhhhh. Honestly this board drives me crazy. It's like they ONLY want to sign the "diamond in the rough, hard working, shane battier type players" and don't get me wrong I love those players to but they aren't winning any championships. Everyone that gets brought up its, "dont want him", "overpaid", "he's not a winner".... ummmm newsflash, I love our guys but they aren't considered winners either. I'm not saying I want to throw the max at every player who averages 20+ but got damn these people kill me. 99% of the players everyone on real gm "doesn't want" would be the best player on our team instantly.

Out of the people I have seen mentioned here the only person I would not want is Monte.

I dont want want any of them at all. Not because I dont think they're talented, I just that its 4 years to late and I dont think thats the direction the Rockets going in right now. Trading for Monte, Granger, ect. would only make us marginably better that we'd get the 16th pick every year instead of the 14th. I dont want to give up any young players for that.
We all know Morey was trying to get a package together for Howard before/during the draft but it fell through. Now looking at the moves(or lack there of) made after the draft I honestly believe Morey is going the tanking route.

i'm ok with trading for one of thsoe guys but only if it makes us a 2nd round playoff team. being stuck with the 14th pick or first round forever wouldnt help this team in the long run

The only way I could see us being a 2nd round team is by adding one of them for a TPE that we dont have (couldn't if we did) or by adding 2 in a 1 sided trade. Like getting Granger + Ellis for Martin + Lowry. Not likely happening either.
I dont think 1 player of that caliber minus what what we lose to get him gets us past the Thunder, Lakers, Spurs, Clippers, or Grizzlies.
The 08-09 season was our best shot at a title but injuries took that away along with our stars. We're overdue for a REAL rebulding year.

Okay so what stage are we at as far as our team is concerned?? Are we rebuilding... no. Do we have a lot of talented young players with high ceilings that we should hold on to and watch develop... no. Are we a superstar away from being a championship team... no. Do we already have a great team that just needs 1 or 2 more pieces each off-season like the spurs... no. So explain to me where we are as a team right now that justifies you not wanting a player like granger who larry bird considers untouchable, you know that larry bird guy that helped build the pacers into a VERY good team through acquiring talent and making good draft picks..

I think we maybe in the begining stages of an actual rebuild. Were not signing any big or overly expensive FA's. Our best and oldest players Lowry, Scola, and Martin are all likely to be gone before next offseason.
And I agree with you, we dont have many of those things but you can get all of those things through the draft with picks higher than the 14th pick over and over again. I look foward to seeing what our young players develop into, along with whatever we get from moving our big 3.
Larry Legend is cool in all and has done an admirable job with the Pacers in everything but lets be real. How many teams made a contender from the dead middle? Bird has not done that. The Pacers are a really nice team but they aren't contenders. I dont want "just a nice team". Granger is the best player Bird ever drafted to date, but was never good enough to be called "UNTOUCHABLE" . I like Granger and wanted him in a Rockets uniform at one time but he just cannot be the best player for a championship team. Period.
You need Duncan, Kobe, Durant, Wade, Dirk, Lebron talent to win. No championship teams in the last 30 years win anything without the star player they drafted except maybe the last Pistons championship team. You dont find many of them with mid-1st round picks. As good as he is, Bird hasn't either.
