Would you trade for Harden?

Now that Ibaka has signed an extension for 4 years/48 million, can the Thunder afford to extend Harden for similar money?

Lamb, Jones and PPat for Harden? Or stick with what we have and see if Lamb has more potential than The Beard.

That's a pretty good team that is a hair less than San Antonio and on par with Dallas. We certainly match up well with Memphis. It's a 50+ win team. Other than cap considerations, why is this a bad deal? This is a team that can go big or small. It's actually pretty versatile.

I disagree. I don't think that team is on par with a san antonio, at least not this year. I do think it's a fantastic general direction concept.

I'm not even a Houston fan, I'm just very interested in the direction and mix they've got right now. I feel like Morey has Houston in a really interesting and nice position.

A lot of people have dissed Houston's offseason, and I really don't see why. The Rockets were in that treadmill position, with decent players like martin/scola/lowry/dragic/dalembert keeping the team in the playoff hunt, but no opportunity to really achieve anything great. The real definition of a team too good to get a top 5 pick, but not good enough to make the 2nd round.

Now, every avenue is open before you. Make the right moves, and this team can be the next fun young team everyone likes.

Lin can absolutely still be a star player. You've got a string of young guys, no bad contracts, and nowhere to go but up.

But seriously, a team relying on lin, asik, white as starters? Probably not as good as san antonio yet. Too young, too inexperienced.

But give it a year or two and you could catch lightning in a bottle.

I think Houston should STAND PAT. You've traded everything, let it stew for a while. Figure out who's for real, and who's not, and then make strategic acquisitions. Don't blow your wad so you can pay Harden 60 million or whatever he wants.

As of right now, Houston will have a salary of only like 31 million in 2013-14. That is a team with Lin, Asik, Lamb, Motiejunas, White, Parsons, Patterson, Jones, and a smattering of other guys.

Add in that juicy Toronto pick, add in your own pick (which I assure you WILL be in the lottery if you keep this basic youth mix) and suddenly you've got a scary-deep young cheap team.

Lin will continue to be a boss.
Asik will be the premier defensive efficiency guy.
parsons already plays boss.
white will be a guy
lamb will be a guy
motiejunas gonna junas

You know? It's like, hey, look at that team.

You'll manage to trade Kevin Martin for something (I'm expecting a package for a semi-star. Martin and 2 young guys for like a deng or granger or ellis type.

At least this year is not "Exciting." We Houston fans, have been that ever since we signed Yao. Every year we were "Excited" shortly followed by "Dissappointed." We have evolved, (or digressed) to being "Interesting."

I am sick of the empty promises. I expect nothing this year, except that our Rooks will develop at a better rate than most others. They will no doubt see some significant playing time. I do expect to see Lamb, win (multiple?) Rookie of the week honors, same for Moju as well.

The future is promising with a young core though.

Rather have Lamb at a rookie contract than Hardem at a max deal. Hell it's not even close. It's not like Harden's a proven superstar already like Dwight. The guy's best season was barely over 17ppg. Trading Lamb + others for him would be super crazy. Stick with Lamb.

Man people are like way too high on Lamb from just 1 summer league performance. Harden is a proven scorer and is still very young with more potential to grow and would fit in with a young team like this.

But in reality you have to consider:
1) If a trade were to happen it'll be down the road, and by then we'll have a better look at our rooks
2) Harden will probably stay in OKC (OKC can still afford to give him the max I believe even after the Ibaka extention) unless he really wants to be "the man" on his team
3) Will Harden command a max deal? To me Harden is definitely better than Joe Johnson was when he hit the FA market, and JJ got max, but he was overpaid. I say this to give it a frame of reference. So if you're going to overpay a player at least overpay one who is young and still has potential, like Harden.

no thanks...no way i give up lamb, tjones, and ppat for him. if okc got those 3, they would hands down come out of the west...no doubt.

lamb coming off the bench will wreck havoc against the lakers or spurs..

James Harden last season was the 3rd best all-around SG in the entire league. Especially with Manu out. Behind Wade and Bryant, he is the clear cut 3rd best. Yes I would trade for him. There's essentially very little weaknesses in his game, we still have yet to see how he matures into a leader, but I don't see any problems at all.

Not at the time when I wrote it. Now that I think about it, the bench is sorta weak with Douglas and Livingston at the back court, but if we sign Machado we'll look okay. Not the deepest team, but could be really interesting in a years time when we start attracting veterans after some success.

No, it's never ever going to happen.
