Will Terrance Jones Be the Forgotten Man of the 2012 Draft?

I think Jones looked good at Kentucky and Summer League but where will he find minutes? He is stuck behind Parsons and possibly Delfino at the 3 and behind Patterson and Motie at least at the four.

play him at center
he's going to be like Al Harrington that can play all 3 positions

Motie might see a lo of minutes backing up the 5, but I think his future is starting at the 4

No. He's already better than Derrick Williams, who went #2 overall in 2011.

not so sure he's better than Derrick Williams or not
we hardly see D-Will 2 play
Adelman always has problem with young players

We were doing a little thread on all-rookie projections over in the Celts forum, and I had Jones down for Second Team, so I haven't forgotten him...lol
In seriousness, he looks good, imho...but the logjam thing is kinda a worry with your whole roster (depth is good, but not when projecting all-star or all rookie players...lol)
I still tend to think you might make a move at some point. I guess we'll see.

Huh? He will be starting PF by mid-season.

Well...to tell the truth, that's what I think. Or at least, that he'll be a key rotation guy. Hence the second team all-rookie guess. But your PF situation is confusing as hell.

how is that confuse?
Patterson is the starter now because he's the (3 years) veteran
then you have 3 rookies backing him up
eventually Jones will outplayed Patterson and take the starter spot from Patterson
Motiejunas is playing mostly backup center
White --- we have no idea if he's going to arrive at the game on time

Again...you're thinking is pretty much in line with what I am guessing might happen. And it kinda makes me happy to hear you guys say that, since I am guessing you've seen a bunch more Rockets preseason that I have.
The confusion, from an outsider, is around the fact you seem to have a bunch of guys who have shown a bit, but no clearcut stars, all at the PF spot. Patterson, Jones, Motiejunas, Johnson, Brockman, Morris.
Okay, so 'shown a bit' is probably an exaggeration on a couple of those guys but...meh...
So, just to be clear about my opinion...
Patterson is a good solid pro. I don't seem him as a long term starter on a contender, but he doesn't hurt you too much either.
Jones has some real potential. Out of all your PFs, he's the one I think might be the long term answer to the starting position.
Motiejunas is the wildcard for me...I just haven't seen enough to have an informed opinion. I think he has a place, but don't know what it is. Can he really be a backup centre? Not disputing your view on that, just ignorant of him to some degree, as I said. I've seen bits and pieces.
Brockman...end of bencher/practice guy
Morris...haven't seen heaps in the NBA, but I don't rate him, really
Johnson...saw a lot of him, since I'm a Celts fan. There is something there, but I don't see a quick win with him. He needs to get stronger and more aggressive. The run the floor/hit the jumper means he can contribute offensively, and he has some defensive ability, but...he's not going to elevate himself over the rest of the guys you've got here.
So...that's my view as an outsider. The 'confusion' is really around whether my view on a limited viewing is close to what you guys think. Seems maybe it is. Just always gets trickier when there are so many potential players at one position to consider.

I think that it is a mistake to try to put too many expectations on these players in this situation. I do like your assessments of the guys.
This entire year is going to be a work in progress. I am looking forward to seeing who rises out of this group and could be a part of the teams future moving forward.
