Should Yao make an attempt to return to the Rockets?

Post#1 » by dunleavyjr » Sat Nov 17, 2012 6:33 am

Should Yao make an attempt to return to the Rockets? It doesn't hurt to give it another shot, right? I mean, guys like Shaun Livingston, Brandon Roy, and even Rasheed Wallace, have returned from retirement. Give him a 10-day contract, and if he's able to play, keep renewing.

PG - Lin
SG - Harden
SF - Chandler
PF - Asik
C - Yao

Only problem is, unlike all the other players you mentioned, Yao is the owner of a CBA team in China. He is right now a business man more than anything else. He is more successful now at what he is doing. It's doubtful he will risk the health of his legs to come back again although we all hope he can come back. Also LMAO, and I don't think Asik can play power forward, I doubt he can be quick enough for that position.

As much as I would love, love, LOVE this scenario....

Yao's moved on. The guy is so much more than a basketball player.

I do hope that Yao remains a presence with the Rockets, but it won't be on the court.

Can we get Drexler to play sf?

Anything to keep him out of the commentators booth.

If there ever was a person I'd love to see give it "one more shot", it'd be Yao. This dude has all of the skill, physical attributes (with a healed leg), and IQ to make an impact with the Rockets. His jumper is too smooth. I have dreams about this scenario and see us competing for the playoffs. By no means is he too old. This will likely stay a dream scenario though, as Yao seems piled up with commitments.

i want rockets to win
but come on
bringing yao back?
no
it wont be good for his foot and his health
the man his height can't put too much pressure on his foot
look like roy trying to come back
just because you feel good doesn't mean your body is ready for full contact basketball

Realistically- 0 percent chance
Hypothetically - Hell ya, give him 15 mins a game , 10 pts /4 rebounds automatically.

I have an idea. Bring Yao back to the Rockets to deal with one of these situations:

1. Rockets down by 2, need a bucket the tie.
2. Game tie. Rockets' ball.
3. Rockets getting fouled. Rockets need good free throw shooter.
4. Rockets need a big man to stop D12 from scoring a potential game winning bucket.
5. Overtime. Everybody tire. Need a fresh Yao to dominate the paint for 5 minutes.

In a word..
NOOOOOOOOOOOO

I said for years that the Rockets wouldn't be able to move forward until Yao was gone. Not only was he eventually unreliable healthwise, but even at his peak he wasn't good enough to put us over the top as the centerpiece (no pun) of the team. So far, I prefer Asik, quite honestly.
