Is NBA TV a good alternative for having Comcast? My bill right now is $120 for cable and internet, and as I'm not mentally challenged, I recognize this as entirely unacceptable. (1440 a year? You kidding me?)

What are some alternatives? The ONLY reason I have cable is for NBA / Rockets games.

get an adblock or w/e pop up blocker add on your browser has. learn how to use element hider, its easy. get familiar with first row sports and the clutchfans "where to watch the game" thread. and thats how the cookie crumbles

dont gimme that lazy crap cuz im lazy as hell and even i can do this. and since most have better comptuers than me it should be easier and faster

BTW blockign ads with element hider can get tricky. gonna be some trial and error

If you only watch Rockets games its silly to have Comcast.

There is a Houston guy who posts high quality streams that is pretty reliable. You can find the stream on Clutchfans in the "where to watch the rockets" thread.

Hadn't really been looking to hit up streams, but $120 a month is absurd. Is that really the only workable option right now?

Options:

1.) pay for comcast
2.) internet streams
3.) buy one of those rogue satelites that hijacks every signal in the air
4.) move out of the viewing area and get League pass
5.) get league pass broadband and an IP switcher which allows you view the Rockets games.

$0.01: if you're okay with crappy low resolution and choppiness, you can do internet streams.

$0.02: you can pay $130 for NBA broadband League Pass, then also pay for a VPN service to change your IP (around $7/mo). This would get you hi-def for a fraction of cost.

is actually not all that bad. I view it with google chrome with the adblock plus addon and I have zero issues other than occasional freezing.

Am I throwing away money because it's available for free? Yes
Am I willing to not pay when they are requesting to be paid? Only if a reasonable price point is unavailable.
Am I slightly embarrassed, as a software developer, that I just had to have someone else suggest the VPN option to me? Eh. Not really.
