Rockets Leading the NBA in Scoring!

Post#1 » by Vator » Sun Dec 23, 2012 4:03 pm

I never thought I'd be able to say that. Not this year especially. I don't know how long this will last so I want to revel in it and bask in its glory...even if it's only for one day. Yes, this is not pace adjusted so they aren't the most efficient at getting points as that title would clearly go to OKC and yes, they certainly have plenty of issues that are discussion worthy, but they are the youngest team in the NBA and they lead it in scoring! That is an accomplishment. Look at this roster. Enjoy it while it lasts. They can be frustrating at times, but at the very least, they are fun to watch. Go Rockets!

Houston...105.4
OKC........105.1
SA..........104.2
MIA.........103.5
NYK........102.9
LAL.........102.6

This team is putting it together much faster than I expected. Such a fun team to watch!

The team is growing much faster than we all expected. Reminds me of Run TMC. High scoring with hardly any defense. #1 in Pace and #7 in offensive rating, so offense is not quite polished but it's getting there. As long as this team can out run its opponent and produce buckets, I have no problem with that.

On defense, I'm not saying that we need to be like the Spurs but these guys need to do better defending the pick and roll. It's just one little thing to fix and the team will make huge strides on that other end.

Very fun to watch, and like I said even more so than when we had T-Mac and Yao Ming.

Yeah, our philosophy of pushing the ball, 3's over 2's, and getting to the FT line is really producing a nice offense.

If we can improve in areas like P&R D like TMU mentioned, along with improving the transition defense, our potential as a team is very good. I think in that Knicks game, we defended the P&R very well. But we've been mostly poor in that regard.

All the mods in one, short, EPIC thread..if we keep playing like we did against the Bulls on Christmas, we're gonna lead the league in scoring the entire season

PnR defense has a lot to do with the coaching staff's preferences. Teams guard the PnR differently, and guard the PnR differently vs different teams. We more or less seem to prefer having the our big zone out the driving lane, instead of showing or hedging. Obviously this is going to give opposing PGs open long 2pt'ers. Basically I'm saying don't expect vast improvements in PnR defense.

Transition defense however is certainly something that is much easier to see improvements on, and certainly we have gotten better at that the past few games.
