Which is BEST seed for ROCKETS?
Realistically rockets can only be maximum high 6th seed
Opponent will be spurs, okc, or 3rd seed opponent
Here is chart of % chance they win first round
Spurs - 60% chance they win against spurs because they been struggling lately and tony parker might not be fully healthy
OKC - 50% chance they win against okc because harden knows this team inside and out and knows their strength and weakness will be valuable in playoff
3rd seed - 55% chance they win against 3rd seed. 3rd seed not decided yet and it will be either grizz, clips, or nugs.
If if pick then i choose to fight either spurs or grizzlies.
who you pick?

Wow you are really selling these teams short. I think 6th seed is the best, but in no way do we have a good chance to beat any of these teams. I would say:
Spurs: 25%
Thunder: 15%
Clippers: 30%
Grizzlies: 35%
Keep in mind even though we have a high powered offense we still have no size inside to match up with these teams and our defense is terrible. Not to mention we dont have home court advantage.

6th or 7th seed would be ideal. This team has no chance against San Antonio.

If Grizzlies end up with the 3rd seed, then I hope Rockets get the 6th seed. I think Rockets can beat the Grizzlies. That being said, I dont think we have a shot against OKC, Clippers, or Nuggets. Even though I'd still have them losing to S.A, that would be my 2nd choice for my Rox to play in the playoffs. I just want them in the playoffs to get the experience for next year when Dwight Howard arrives. Then it will be time dominate.

This seems to be the consensus on every forum I read, and I still don't get why.
The Grizz always and I repeat always get you to play their style. If the Rockets play the Griz best believe that they are not going to be running up and down court putting up 120+.
You're going to have Toney Allen (one of best defender in the league) on James Harden, and Mike Conley (steal master) against Lin (who at times have turnover problems). Beverly isn't going to help at PG either.
Marc and Z-Bo will destroy the board leaving the entire fate of the Rockets in the hands of Parsons and Delifno hitting shots. (Oh wait they got rid of Rudy Gay, and added a great defender in Prince).
I mean seriously... why does everyone think the Griz is the best match up for the Rockets. Call me crazy but I think the Spurs are the Rockets best chance.
Both team play similar run it up style and it probably just come down to who makes more shots. Yes Pop is a far superior coach to Mchale, but I think the Rocket can still prevail over that.
If anything the Thunder should be the worst match up for the Rockets. Beside that one amazing Lin/Harden game at home the Rockets have looked pathetic against the Thunder. Not to mention Durant and Westbrook is going to live at the free throw line against this extremely young team.
Call me crazy but in my head
Rocket vs Thunder = Thunder 4-1 or 4-0
Rocket vs Griz = Griz 4-1 or 4-0
Rocket vs Spurs = Spurs 4-2 or 4-3 (at least they have a fighting chance).
P.S Plus there's always a random chance someone from the Spurs go down... as the Knicks learn this year... when you have old players someone is bound to go down. Didn't Lin have his 38 point game against the Spurs too?

Lol. 0% chance the Rockets beat the Spurs. Like, really, no chance. Maybe you can steal a game or two, but you're not winning a series against them.
The Thunder aren't too bad a match-up and there's always a chance that Westbrooks goes braindead, but I'd probably prefer the Clippers, followed by the Nuggets. Not sure what to make of that Grizzlies match-up. I want to love it, but I kinda hate it. Z-Bo would eat D-Mo alive.

What yang said, except I think we could possibly win 2 games against the Thunder.

we have a better chance against the thunder than spurs, but that chance is so miniscule...basically no chance against either. also, i'd rather play either the clips or grizz than the nuggets. nuggets can outscore us with their speedy attack offense just like us. bottom line is to avoid spurs, okc, and nuggets. hopefully the clips or grizz can hold off the nuggets for 3rd seed.

The more I think about it the more I want to play the Clippers.
Their Crappy coach is crappy. Blake Griffin's crappy post game is crappy. Their role players aren't all that. Easy team to prepare and scheme for. Also, their owner is a douche.
That Chris Paul fella is pretty ridiculous, but the gap between him and Beverley isn't too big. Rockets can take them. Easy.
Clippers, please!

Re: Which is BEST seed for ROCKETS?
3rd seed definitely.
Rockets would be swept by the Spurs
Rockets would be 1-4 against OKC
You guys have a better chance against Griz, Clips, or Nuggs

I just want to make the playoffs first.
But we'd get swept by OKC/SAS. Maybe we might steal a game if we get hot...maybe..
I think we'd be more competitive w/ anyone that gets the third seed, though it'd preferably not be Denver...of the three teams that are fighting for that position..
6th seed won't even be an option though if we can't take care of business in this last month of the season.

clippers are tough and rockets couldn't beat them
nuggets will be tough if they get home court
spurs have good coach is tough to beat
okc has too much talent to beat
grizzlies are tough defensive team

Re: Which is BEST seed for ROCKETS?
To most classical basketball players, a good successful playoff team has the following:
1) A good go to low post threat.
2) Excellent defense
3) Good team rebounding to dimish the opportunity of second chance points
4) The ability to slow the game down or play it fast.
5) The presence of an enforcer.
There have been teams in the past that have gone through the first round without every one of these components, the 2006 Golden State Warriors come to mind.
We lack 1) a good go to low post threat.
Our team defense is okay, so long as we don't have to deal with a prolific scoring 4. Hence the presence of Blake Griffin, Zach Randolph and Tim Duncan are going to expose us. So we lack 2).
As we have no low post scorers, our half court game depends entirely on a Harden iso, which as isos go, is okay, but we'd like another option for folks to collapse the paint. We will commit suicide if we slow it down. So we lack 4).
Our best bet is against a team that lacks a scoring power forward. That leaves out the Spurs, the Clippers and the Grizzlies. As ridiculous as it may seem, Oklahoma is also a jumpshooting heavy team, and that's probably our best bet.

What? I'm totally serious.
On a good day Beverley is right up there Chris Paul.

Bev has been pretty bad these last few games, actually.

Chris Paul always turns into the best player in the league come playoffs.... do not want.
Bev & Parsons have both been bad, i don't know what to do, they're breaking my heart. Its like the mon-stars stole Beverely's skills & Parsons left the "LBJ" part at home.
If they don't turn it around soon they're dead to me...
for this season.
