http://www.csnhouston.com/basketball-ho ... me-offense“We drew stuff up to get movement and motion, a double screen… Stuff that’s worked for us the entire series,” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. “We just held the ball. We’ve got to attack. We hold it too much at the end of the game. We’ve got to attack with enough time that we let our offense do what it has to do which is pass and move. Believe me, we discussed that a lot.”
“They were good shots. I stepped back, created space. I was just cold, not having rhythm,” Harden said. “I sat out the entire fourth quarter so if have those opportunities again, same play.”
When asked what the Rockets should do if they find themselves in the same situation Wednesday, his answer was predictable.
“For sure, do the same thing," Harden said. "Do the same thing.”
PASS THE F**KIN BALL JAMES! YOU'RE NOT MICHAEL JORDAN!

I agree but the the others have to move and not just watch. I have seen them stand and watch as he dribbles the air out of the ball all to often

Main problem is that he no longer looks to score but create contact and then throw up his hands. He has relied to much on the ref calling that a foul. It is almost as bad as Chris Paul and his flopping. Not basketball just sad

its like he forgot how to play basketball. in the offseason he's gonna get in a pickup game and do the same **** but instead of getting a call he's gonna get chased off the court

This has been more apparent b/c his jumpshot has been broke for a while now too.
I absolutely hate it when he stops the ball to dribble, move nowhere b/c the paint is packed and settle for that step back which he misses 90% of the time. It's no coincidence the points he scored in the third quarter the last game was off quick hitters coming off a screen going towards the basket.

wow

. This whole season I've been wondering whose fault it was that we keep doing iso fail's at the end of games, McHale or Harden. I thought it was McHale calling for the iso's. I guess now we know it is Harden who is ignoring the playcalls and keeping the ball. It's still partially McHale's fault for allowing and enabling Harden to continue to do it. It's the coach's responsibility to hold players accountable for not following the plays or not playing defense, and McHale has not done that.

Well, I think the players used to move, but after a while, you figure out that Harden's not going to pass the ball even if you move. In fact, you'll make Harden hold on to the ball even longer because now he has to wait for the player to clear out again before he can make his move.

True, but Durant's rip move is even sadder. At least Harden is driving and earning the contact. Durant doesn't even have to move his feet. Just flail those chicken arms into the stationary defender's arms and throw up a shot. Last game he tried to do that, but actually just hit Parson's body with the ball, still got the foul call.

I wasn't sure at 1st but now I am... rocketsballin is offically a McHale fan.

Everybody know McHale don't wanna see Harden iso, this team just stupid, and they fall into that "watch superstar" mode.
It happened with McGrady/Yao, I know Battier even said something like "We forget we are playing a game, because McGrady is so good you just sometimes watch him in awe."
Parsons said something similar about Harden early in the season

yeah i changed my mind about mchale in game 3. tho im not a huge fan, im ok with keeping him over most coaches. tho he still has some flaws that i cant stand
also this article helps. at least i know mchale is trying to get everyone to move the ball, but harden is also trying to look like michael jordan. tho the thing about mike is that he doesnt dribble into 3-5 defenders and throw his arms up every chance he gets, but w/e. im sure harden values his life and will work on being less selfish this offseason

T me it is chicken v the egg arguement. When Harden Iso's and the team moves and not stand and watch he finds you.
The Durant thing pisses me off but they still call it but they are not calling the Harden flail like a fish move after contact and at least Durant is still trying t score it where as Harden wants contact. If they don't call it usually becomes a wasted possession

The thing I've noticed about Harden from watching this playoff series is that he often puts guys in a really bad position at the end of the shot clock. He'll dribble up top in an iso for nine seconds, and then when the shot clock gets down to four, he'll just pass it to someone else on the perimeter, usually forcing them into a low-percentage three or a turnover on an attempted drive.

the guy is young...his first year starting, and first year being the man ill give him slack...
I happen to think he played very well within the team offence for game 5
like I said before I havent like all year how Lin is being utilized... same can be said of Harden
who I feel has been played more as a point guard, rather than his natural position as a Shooting guard
we all know how efficient Harden can be as a spot up shooter
I just hope this is a long term plan to develop these players weaknesses
in any event right now if im a Rocket Fan id be very happy at the direction of this club
2 playoff wins against one of the best teams in the NBA...
for a team that was expected to win 30 games and go lottery

I don't think it was a matter of him being "too selfish" as much as him trying to do too much, trying to take over the game. Like adrenaLINe said, it was his first time being "the man," his first time being option #1 in the Playoffs, he was trying to carry the team when he really could have taken a step back.

rather have Brian Shaw to coach the ROckets. The Triangle is an amazing system.. Look at Phil Jackson and his mentor Tex Winter

triangle will not work if you don't have a player that can post up

To be fair, the triangle is about spacing. The bulls did it with Luc Longley and Bill Cartwright. You can say both of them are more offensively polished than Dwight... OMG...
Nevermind. No triangle for us.

Harden is a very selfish player, he wanted the spotlight and now he's getting it.
