Dude was a free agent last season, nobody offered anything and he was coming from that Linsanity thingy and now you are saying his trade value is high right now ?

He had a **** up chest... why are we complaining? He had to go on the court with armor and even then he was tentative to seek contact.

yeah, I agree with you. Lin had hurt his chest, and could not play exceedingly high standards. But I believe he can bring us linsanity again.

I actually like what Lin did for our team, and hope he's back unless we can get a clear upgrade. Sometimes I find myself rooting for Lin the most on this team just because of all the hate he gets. I found it hilarious how much praise Brooks was getting for these past couple games. I liked watching him play too, but in G5, he was 4-11 from the field, missed all his three point attempts, and went 2-4 from the line. And in the last game, he had 2 turnovers the same exact way trying to find Asik in traffic in the ten minutes that he played.

Lin really improved over the course of the season:
February: 14.5 PPG/2.0 RPG/6.6 APG on 44/42/84
March: 13.8 PPG/1.6 RPG/5.0 APG on 48/40/79
April: 17.3 PPG/2.8 RPG/6.9 APG on 44/36/79

His overall post all-star break #'s:

14.9 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 5.9 APG on .455/.375/.784 (.555 TS%) in 31.2 MPG.

You extrapolate that to PER36: 17.1 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 6.8 APG.

And you consider it's next to a ball dominant SG in Harden, those are pretty damn impressive #'s.
(21.5 PPG, 7.5 APG in 4 games without Harden. We went 2-2 with wins over Clippers and Magic. And losses to SA in OT, and loss @ Clippers).

Wasn't there a Grantland article that showed that Lin was top 10 in the league in terms of driving to the rim (meaning from outside the top of the arc to the painted area of the court). And his production on those drives produced like 1.3 points per drive (similar # to Parker)?

Lin also played good D for us on the season.

Yes, he SUCKED in the post-season, but he was obviously injured too.

For the most part, his biggest weakness was inconsistency, something that plagues our whole team.

Yesterday, he's said he's never been more motivated, so we'll see how much he improves on his game. But he was a big part of our team this past year, and looking at how he improved over the course of the season, and that he's only 24 years old coming off his first FULL season as a starter, I don't think it's far fetched to think he'll be even better next year.

I'm fine with Lin, starting or off the bench. He will probably have to earn his starting spot in training camp next season. But it's pretty rare to trade a player and get a better player at the same position in this league. It just doesn't happen. And we don't have any PG depth either, so I highly doubt he gets traded. At the end of the day Lin is an average starting PG for 8+m a year. It's not really a big deal either way. Although with reports of CP3 possibly not re-signing who knows what's going to happen.

The problem is his 15m$ lastyear for everyteam if he gets traded.

Houston should trade him because he's an awful fit next to Harden, but I don't see what team could be interested... maybe Dallas if they fall recruiting big names? maybe Indiana..., maybe Lakers if you take Nash, Milwaukee if they lost Jennings, maybe Utah...

If Lin gets traded it would only count for roughly 8.3m or so against the salary cap as it is averaged over 3 years. It doesn't matter he gets paid 15m himself that final year because you know he more than makes up for it due to being a draw. This makes Lin contract immensely more tradable. But like I said at the end I don't see how we could get anybody better unless CP3 decides he likes HOU. Maybe we can get our hands on Bledsoe if CP3 decides to stay, but I doubt they want Lin. DAL we know likes Lin, but what do we want from DAL?

Marion would be a terrific fit for Houston, great guy to have around, even if not, you can probably get Ryan Anderson in a 3-team deal.

If you could pull off those trades then you should submit your resume to HOU for the GM position. Who in their right mind would trade Marion for Anderson (I'm assuming you mean Ryan Anderson).

THIS IS A LONG POST. It started off as a response and then I couldn't stop typing... My bad.

Marion would be an okay fit, but he's starting in Dallas. I doubt he'll be willing to play backup to both the 3 and 4 spot. Even then, we'd have to create space for him at the 4 by clearing out youngsters, and I'm not sure Cuban will want our youth and somehow make our salaries match. Dirk is on a clock, and on top of that, trading within your own division is like sleeping with your room mate, it's just something people don't do.

As per Lin looking average, yeah, he'll need to be a better spot up shooter. This is especially funny given that he was a SG in college. Given that he flourished well off the pick and roll in New York, in Houston Asik didn't really starting showing the ability to finish around the rim until the middle of the season. Lin's numbers improved over the course of the season and some would point to the fact that his ability to perform improved. However, I can just as easily say that improvement in production really came from the fact that the paint police couldn't help off of Asik from the weak side as readily. Sometimes team mates matter.

From my experience, Lin is far more likely to move the ball in a half court set and further more, move it well. If there is one thing the traditional box score has shown his improvement, it is the drop in turn overs. I don't know his efg numbers from month to month, but I suspect they went up as he is less likely to settle for difficult shots as the season progressed. (Or better yet, he doesn't have to take them because Harden is willing to. From the point of view of a casual fan, Lin takes less credit for the winnings, but he's less of a target when we lose as well.)

On the team mates can make you look better note, folks need to realize is that there is plenty of room for Harden to improve as an away from ball guard. The better Lin plays away from the ball, the better Harden will look on the dribble penetration. It is also true the other way round. Harden is a ball dominant wing player that is like a Brandon Roy where he can create an offense, but as a younger version he lacks the maturity at times to play within his own limitations. If both Lin and Harden could manage running past a few screens and land on an opportunity by way of a catch instead of dribble penetration, the sky is the limit for this back court. So I'd rather wait on Lin upgrading himself than going out and getting an upgrade right now. Besides, Lin makes Houston a lot of money.

As per Anderson, we need better defense from our PF position, which Anderson is not very good at. He's good at spacing the floor for penetration, but for that kind of money, we really want someone who is more inside->out rather than outside->in. Why get Anderson when David West could be had. Also, not that we're short on pf backups or anything, but the idea of signing Dejuan Blair is pretty frigging intriging given the way these playoffs have turned out. If Blair gets a 17-20 foot J and could still do the things that he could do (or if he unioned his abilities with a certain player who now plays for the Kings), he's a 10 million a year player that we can take on a discount for a long term deal because of his glass knees.

And good grief, we've got Brooks and Beverly for backup. Brooks and Beverly could handily start for the Heat over Chalmers. Certainly they are better than the crop of pgs that Utah has. I'm not sure I believe Kemba Walker's numbers, and I would argue that Jose Calderon is a better fit for the Pistons than both these two, but I don't think they are less competent as players in other systems. We have a solid rotation for the 1,2,3 and 5. We just need our kids to grow up quicker.

Seriously, Smith/TRob/Motie/TJones... and I'm not even thinking about Royce. If Royce White wasn't such a fsckup, we could actually just roll those 5 out in the a summer or dleague game for the lulz and it would be put back heaven. We'd get every single offensive rebound if we crashed the boards. If you score every time you make it down the court and you got every defensive board too, you wouldn't even have to play real defense.

lin will be fine....i just think he needs to get stronger physically, develop that upper body strength...we all know he gets pounded when getting to the rim...should be a better shooter next year....he should also develop a pull up jumper.

he will with experience....but his shooting is priority and upper body strength.
