so i guess the rockets are trying to move thomas robinson for the dwight howard sweepstakes. as i magic fan, i'd be interested in adding another young guy with potential to our core.

so we have a tpe from the josh mcroberts trade for right about what trob makes.

so rockets trade thomas robinson to orlando for a tpe.

rockets clear the salary off their books to go after dwight and another max fa and orlando adds a young big with potential to its roster.

who says no?

It'll probably take the tpe & a future protected pick.

Bobcats have a future top 12 pick from Portland that most fans would be willing to part with.

Take a look at our frontcourt and you'd understand why.

Hasheem Thabeet was a top 2 pick...whats your point? He's a bust, I wouldn't give you a 1st for him.

his value is down but doesnt mean he's useless. u cant ignore a top 5 pick who only played one season.

Poor guy. His career is off to a rough start.

I wish him the best and hope he finds a good situation to showcase his talents.

Paul Pierce/#16 for Robinson/White/Asik

Buyout Pierce and save over $7million. Sign Dwight. Beat LA

I still don't think there's anyway we'd move Asik in a cap clearing move. Especially because there's no guarantee that we'd get Dwight, and Asik is our 2nd most impactful player.

I'd hope a team like CHA might have interest in Robinson alone for a future sort pick.

This isn't really news either, I think it was pretty obvious this is what we wanted/have to do. But it is surprising that it leaked this early I suppose..

yeah if we trade asik we need something better in return. a young star player, not piece and a mid 1st rounder. asik is waayyyy too good to get rid of for cap space.

Charlotte trades the Portland first (top 12 protected) for Thomas Robinson and pick 34?

We'll just absorb him straight up.

I believe Rockets will not want a 1st round pick in this coming draft as such pick has cap hold which will reduce the cap space available to sign Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. A FUTURE 1st round pick is probably what Morey prefers.

The Portland pick is currently 2014 top 12 protected, valuable pick as they figure to finish with pick 13-16ish.

It is a future late lotto most likely.

i would do it if it's thomas robinson + 2013 34th pick for portland future top 12 protected and future 2nd round (it can be top 40 protected)

I imagine that our FO may be interested in something along those lines, I included the #34 because Idon't imagine that Morey wants any draft salary coming back.

You guys are building something pretty spectacular out west and unfortunately Robinson is not a crucial part of that, his salary however is.

Yea the trade would be pretty sweet for Boston but more importantly I just want you guys to steal Howard away from LA!

Woj always has good stuff:

As for what teams will have to give up to acquire Robinson, well, it won’t be much considering the way the Rockets have announced both his availability, as well as their intentions. Houston will be looking for a draft pick, a trade exception, or non-guaranteed contracts it can unload later — basically, anything that will allow the team to shed Robinson’s contract to create enough space to be able to go after Howard.

Personally, I don't want to move him, but I understand the reasoning behind it. I'd like to see them make some other moves if possible. but if it comes down to moving him to bring in Dwight then it has to be done.

I think that Robinson has a lot of potential, but he's going to be one of those guys who takes a little time to develop. By the time that most are ready to write him off is when I think that he's going to make that next step.

If we do bring back a first round pick for him then it has to be a future pick. I'd be shopping for a pick in between 2014 and 2017 with the least amount of protection possible.

A 2013 pick is out of the question as the team does not need the cap-hold.
