If HOU somehow landed Chris Bosh, good would they be?

Post#1 » by HoodluM- » Mon Jun 10, 2013 1:54 am

While this is pretty unlikely to actually happen, I feel like Bosh would be an excellent fit next to Asik and running the P&R with Harden. I think a team of:

Beverly/Lin (hopefully they can figure out how to get rid of Lin, I like Bev and he's cheap)
Harden
Parsons
Bosh
Asik

Plus whatever young pieces they want to have on the bench could win the West. Again, not sure of the plausibility (does Houston have the cap space to afford Bosh without moving Lin or Asik?), but it's fun to think about.

Well actually it could be an option for Morey if he does indeed land Dwight. Morey loves efficiency, I can't see Asik/Howard combo at the 4/5 being all that efficient on offense, defensively we could hold teams to like 60 points a game. but non the less

1. Rockets sign Howard
2. Rockets send Asik (possibly Lin as well) to Heat for Bosh

Bosh doesn't have to be the big man and can play stretch 4 like he should

Miami gets a big body down low that can actually rebound and play defense

Beverly/Harden/Parsons/Bosh/Howard

Idk about you guys but I wouldn't hate that starting 5

I'm not in love with Bosh.

Bosh isn't a classic stretch four. He doesn't have range out to 24 four feet. He's good out to 19. He's money on the midrange game, except the Rockets aren't a mid range game team. We like our scoring to come at the three or right at the basket.

The issue is if we bring Bosh, yeah we give Dwight all kinds of room to operate, but not enough room where Harden can travel unmolested to the hoop once he beats his man. Whoever is guarding Bosh would still be close enough to help, especially since Bosh is a lefty and probably likes to catch the ball on the left side. That means we have switch our offense to focus on getting the ball to Dwight, and play inside out. Now, that worked for about a season with Orlando. That was before Miami and Chicago got good in the East. I guess Dwight would really like that, but Harden's not gonna like it and neither is our second prize free agent acquisition.

Now we take a team where team mates like to share the ball to a team where there is no dominant alpha and there are conflicting styles of play. If we get a stretch four, we want a real stretch four. Bosh is probably the only successful tweener in the game in the last 15 years, but he's not a modern 21st century stretch four if he can't make 3s.

Futhermore, he can't get defensive boards as well as he use to. His rebounding percentages have fallen off despite playing in the East. He looks awful against Duncan on the block, which means he will have trouble gettign defensive boards against Nowitiski/Brand and he's going to have a hell of a time getting boards against Memphis. Within the whole division, of which we play each team 4 times a year, our starting power forward will make us lose the board battle, one which we need to win because each team in their own way makes one pay for second chance points. Against the rest of our conference, he's going to have trouble against the Clippers, Portland, Denver, Minneapolis and Oklahoma. Against every playoff bound team this year, our 15 million a year pf is going to be outboarded significantly at his position.

Why am I cutting up a quarter of my cap for a 6 10 guy who has issues doing what power forwards do and his special power is that he can hit mid range 2s, a shot my team doesn't shoot anyway? Unless Bosh has an undisclosed injury, or he's willing to let other people board while he boxes out, his regression in multiple facets of his game are troublesome.

bosh doesn't have a good post up game or if any...we need one that can post up...i kinda miss scola...if we were considering bosh, then why not just go for LMA....at least he is more of a consistent perimeter shooter.

According to Daryl Morey, the Rockets should improve 4-5 wins with the same group of guys. I'm guessing Chris Bosh would add at least another 5 wins on top of that considering how little we were already getting from the PF spot.

My guess: 55 wins
