That the Clippers and the Celtics were unable to make a deal for Doc Rivers. It only makes Chris Paul rethink hard about resigning with the Clippers. And if Howard signs first does Paul follow? Hopefully you can steal both of LA's stars away.

Doesn't appear that it should have any impact to me. If anything, I think that trade would have hurt the clippers.

I strongly doubt that Chris Paul will come to the Rockets regardless. And of he does, I'm not convinced that he and Harden will be able to play well together.

Tomorrow I and my wife celebrate our one year anniversary.
I am happy as one can be, baking a pie as a matter of fact.
I am never going to be mad or sad that other teams get better at our probable expense, as I hope no one gets happy their team got better because we did something stupid. It's pretty much the logical extension of 'I hope nobody gets hurt'.
So no, I wish Doc could move to the Clips as his teams rebuilding and he doesn't want to stick around. I wish the Celtics would let him out of his contract.
You can't trade coaches, as coaches are management. In fact, if you allowed that to happen, there would be chaos, as the assistants would never get any job stability.

So what?
Chaos is good...

If you can trade head coaches, then
1) Their staff which was hired by the head coach, would be dead men walking.
2) This leads to the loss of having an apprenticiship dynamic between heads and younger assistants.
3) You will see less assistant coaches promoted to head coaches because they haven't established a long enough tenure.
4) The traded head coach cannot be effective immediately. He'll have to run the ex coaches plays and bring his own stuff slowly. At the end of the season, if he can employ 1/3 of the arsenal of his own X and Os, it would be a miracle. A good coach is at least an effective motivational speaker, but he should be so much more.
5) Forget about establishing culture of a club. You couldn't even guarantee a consistent style of basketball througohout one season.
Well ran organizations are run on the basic premise of understand what you can and cannot control. Introducing chaos means good organizations no longer have an understanding of what they have on the plate. The world becomes opaque, and it becomes incredibly difficult to make rational decisions.
It doesn't surprise me that someone like the Clippers would try and import some good culture by getting Doc Rivers and Garnett, and it might work out well for them, since Vinny Del Negro doesn't work well as a head coach. But in any other situation, you might get back lash from players as management ships out a well liked coach in mid season. It could end up pretty bad for everyone involved.

Trade:
Jeremy Lin, Thomas Robinson and Coach Kevin McHale to Boston
Rajon Rondo and Coach Doc Rivers to Houston
Rondo > Paul

Why is it OK for a coach to be let out of his contract to go to a winning team but it's not OK for a player?

Personally, I think it's ok for the player, too. It revolves around expectations management. Fans\management expect player x to play => fans get attached to player x / management builds strategy around him => player x decides he'd rather be elsewhere and requests out, with his compensation to be forfeited => can't recall if comp still counts against the cap => fans hopes often dashed by loss of talent => management forced to redesign strategies, etc.
Basically, fans tend to whine at anything that gets in the way of their dreams of winning, but at the end of the day, if you aren't a slave, you can determine to an extent where you work. If the situation isn't handled properly, that place does not have to be the nba.

Forget about CP and Doc ... Focus on KG and Dwight
Beverly

KG
Dwight

To get Garnett and Dwight we would need to find takers for Asik, T-Rob, AND Lin. That would leave us only one PG on the roster (Bev), and take away our back-up SG (Lin), meaning we would have horrible depth (assuming Dwight doesn't take a discount so we don't have to waive Aaron Brooks and James Anderson, I doubt he will).
To get Millsap we would just have to find takers for Asik and T-Rob.

Assuming we get Dwight (it's a 50% chance imo), and we had to choose only one line-up rotation to use, this is the rotation I would choose (the numbers are minutes):
Dwight 35/Asik 13
TJones 30/DMo 18
Parsons 35/Harden 13
Harden 25/Lin 23
Lin 13/Beverley 25
What's yours?

Boston can take back TRob and any expiring contracts, if in fact we tanking. Lin would have to go though. Wouldn't be too concerned with a backup SG or PG ... cheap veterans will flock to Houston if you had a roster ready to compete.

If Asik is only playing 13 minutes, he's overpaid.
Spot PF duty or trade.
In general I like the lineup, though.
