Although Omer Asik has formally requested a trade, the Houston Rockets have no plans to grant his wish, according to sources.
Shortly after Dwight Howard committed to signing with the Rockets, Asik requested a trade from Houston.
The Rockets have turned down offers and plan to continue doing so.
"With Omer, he had a great year for us last year and really became one of the top centers in the league," Kevin McHale said. "It's just when you have an opportunity to get Dwight, it's hard not to. I'm sure Omer right now is a little down in the dumps, but we'll pick him up."

Great decision by the Rockets! We're really going to need him when we need to play big or when DH is in foul trouble. I also think that Terrance Jones and D-Mo will step up this year to fill the 4 nicely, we should at least give them a fair shot before panicking and pulling the trigger to pick up a starting PF while losing someone of greater value.

Contrary to what you read re: Asik requesting trade - that is not the case. Could he be dealt? Sure? Would he welcome? Prob? But not asking

I'd prefer to trade him and get a PF that fits, but I could also be fine using him similar to Orlando using Gorat behind Howard.

I'm going to pretend that the name Boozer was not mentioned in this thread.

Trade proposal:
http://basketball.realgm.com/tradecheck ... de/6310848Boston gets: Omer Asik
Houston gets: Courtney Lee, Fab Melo, Jared Sullinger and one first round pick
Melo and Sullinger were first rounders last year. Melo played almost the whole season in the DLeague but showed promise averaging 3 blocks per game there. Sullinger killed us for 14 points and 11 rebounds in our loss at Boston. He's not really a "stretch four" but he did hit 40% of his threes in his last season at Ohio State (16 out of 40) so he does have some range on his shot.
Boston wants to trade Lee since he had a down season but I think he just had a hard time adjusting to a new team (his 4th in 5 seasons). He was a 40% three point shooter for us 2 seasons ago and played solid defense. I think Houston fans would love to have him back, even as a backup at $5m a year.
Rockets
F: Parsons, Garcia, Casspi
F: Jones, Motiejunas, Sullinger
C: Howard, Smith, Melo
G: Lin, Beverley, Canaan
G: Harden, Lee, Anderson
