yeah i dnot get it. reggie is not the player we need. we got more than enough shooters. if we're going for aa bench player, then we need a backup sf who can run the floor and defend. hopte its not cuz they wanna stay out of the tax.

if there was anything good out there left, i dont doubt morey would pay them worth their money and go over cap...rockets will go over cap if they find the right player.

Because when you already have Garcia, Parsons, and Harden, you don't really need to spend big money on a wing?
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

I don't know much about the guy but I can't complain because anyone's better than James Anderson.

Re: Why do we keep signing below average players???
I actually really used to like Reggie Williams when he was with the Warriors. He was a good shooter, and also had a real good handle which allowed him to create for others or himself. I even remember I used to compare his game to Harden..of course this was before Harden broke out as an all-star sort player two years ago. A big part of that comparison might also have been that both are lefties and look kinda similar (without Harden's beard).
It looks like he's been injured these past two seasons..so maybe there's a chance he can play a role off the bench if he's healthy?
It looks like Morey is really banking on one of Williams/Casspi to kind of return to their first two years sort form. Interesting enough, both players more or so played better in situations where the pace favored uptempo.

To clarify on Reggie Williams’ deal with Rockets, second year non-guaranteed as opposed to team option. First year 50 % guaranteed. Twitter @Jonathan_Feigen

Re: Why do we keep signing below average players???
I like this move. Depending on his health, Reggie can be an above average player and a very solid role player. I think he can fill in the Delfino void. His entire contract is only 25% garaunteed. So I see it as a very low risk, medium reward situation. Not every move is a home run. We still need these types of singles and doubles to round out the roster.

If we wanted a 6'6 wing who could shoot should have drafted Rice (or traded for him like Wizards did)
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Re: Why do we keep signing below average players???
I don't have problem with the Casspi or Williams signings per se, but you probably shouldn't expect either of them to be a full time serviceable rotation player, which is why I worry a bit about not having a real backup SG.
I like Garcia, but I think at this point in his career he's best utilized as a 3 or small ball 4. Quicker guards seemed to give him fits last year, so I'm not sure if it's wise to expect him to play a bunch of minutes at the 2.

Maybe we have Lin get backup SG minutes. Have him play with Beverley or Cannan?

Yes!
Whatever results in more minutes for Beverley! Problem solved right there. Good thinking TMFMVP.

Howard 34 Asik 14
Motiejunas 20 Jones 20 Garcia 8
Parsons 36 Garcia 12
Harden 36 Lin 12
Lin 18 Beverley 30

Re: Why do we keep signing below average players???
Remember, White is gone, and we have to spend 90% of the cap. Anderson, Jones and Beverley are all playing well in the summer league, we might even pick up one of the other guys on a cheap contract (Cooley.) And also possibly move Montiejunas or Smith.
