Terrence Jones

Post#1 » by nickforthreee » Mon Jul 15, 2013 10:16 pm

I really like the improvement I see in him this year compared to last. He was a beast in summer league. I think he will be the starting PF for the Rockets and I think he will fit perfectly next to Harden/Parsons/Howard.

What do you guys think?

I like him. I'd like to see him and D-Mo get more burn this season. Maintain cap flexibility and try to bring in Kevin Love!

It just really comes down to whether he's improved enough to compete at the speed of the NBA. Can he fit himself into the team dynamic mid-game/mid-play at operate at the speed of the game. Harden, Parsons, Lin, Howard all have that ~ though I think defense is a greater concern. Can TJ play D as well without getting into early foul trouble. One of my fave dunks from last year was the one he did at the beginning of the season, it was beauty.

As long as he keeps improving and starts packing on some muscle the skies the limit.

I saw a video of Hibbert deadlifting 540lbs and I never realized how damn strong some of these guys actually are. TJ DMO put on some lean muscle, not fat!

Im a fan of tjones. But he is not a starter on a championship contender. Not yet.

Need a veteran pf with a proven shot.

I thought his offense and rebounding was fine last year (fine as in what more can you expect). Offensively he's a good fit since he can stretch the floor but also put the ball on the floor and drive. Good handles for his size. It's his defense the concern (same as D-Mo, except D-Mo needs much more work in the rebounding department). I think his motor/stamina is another concern if he starts to play more mins.

I'd expect him to be the starter on opening night barring any moves...but it's likely it will be a game by game situation for the most minutes... that could be anyone from TJones, DMo, Parsons, or Casspi.

I think that Jones starts the season as the Starter, but there's no guarantee that he'll finish the season as a starter. Motie could win the job, as could Greg Smith.

And I don't want to look too deeply into that Al Harrington video, but WHY IS HE WEARING THAT HAT???

I am not sure if I prefer Jones or Dmo at this point. Per Lin Jones has looked real good in the early workouts and I know he has paid his dues. DMo also seemed like a guy who would be a great fit for this team when I watched some early games but then he just fell off. I saw that he had put on some serious weight maybe so he can play more inside so we shall see. Jones though probably has the edge

apparently that's the in thing now. The 49ers quarterback got a lot of criticism for wearing a Miami Dolphins cap.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I think it is highly probable TJones will be the starter. D-Mo's strength was in his slick footwork down low, but we all know D-12 is going to want his post touches. D-Mo has a loooooong way to go defensively and in the rebounding department. TJones needs to work on his defense as well, but at least his rebounding is not terrible. The only other candidate I can think of is Greg Smith, and that is if he develops and adequate 15 ft'er to compliment Dwight. If he does it's possible Greg can be our guy since he's pretty solid defensively and decent rebounder, plus we all know he's a beast at finishing around the rim.

Of course McHale might use one of the 3's at the 4 to spread the floor but if anything it's like you say it will be a match-up type of substitution.

It's going to be a fun season.

I think we'll see an improved game from Terrence Jones. I've always loved his versatility and in today's league, he can be an excellent contributor.

I think Jones is as much of a Championship level starting PF as Mario Chalmers is a starting PG. it's not like we're asking him to lead the team in any category. Literally all the starting PF needs to do is not be a liability on either side of the floor. Anything more than that is a plus. And I expect them to be more than a non liability. If Miami can win with a PG rotation of Chalmers/Cole, we can win with a PF rotation of Jones/Mo. We're good at PF.

He is much better than D-mo defensively and always playing hard / aggressively on both ends. Look forward to watching him in new season w/ DH.

Sucks that he represents my hometown. What kind of person does something like that? I haven't heard of him ever being a trouble maker, but Portland nightlife definitely brings the worst out of people.
