Name it this season
1. Jeremy Lin
2. James Harden
3. Chandler Parsons
4. Donatas Motiejunas, T jones, or Greg SMith?
5. Dwight Howard
The big question mark is the 4 spot. Who will be the power forward starter?

Am I the only one who'd like to see Parsons played as a stretch 4?

I'd like it too but it seems like he would have some trouble defending the 4's and I don't know that we wanna take the Orlando Magic/Rashard Lewis approach. I think we want someone who is big enough to contend against NBA 4's while still shooting the lights out so that Chandler can continue defending the other teams #1 wing option.
That's just my opinion on that though. I mean we're dangling Asik out there so we may as well get what fits right?

matchup problem can be good and bad
good is the opponent PF need to keep the distance close leaving more space for Howard
bad is Parsons will have trouble guarding them
he will have trouble with PF like Gasol, Randolph, Griffin, West, Duncan/Splitter, Boozer

So he'd have a hard time guarding all-star power forwards... doesn't everyone? Isn't that what makes them all-star power forwards?

sure on offense garica and parsons are good at pf, but they'll be eaten alive on defense, probably injured too. 190lb pf? are you shtting me? this isnt high school. get the stretch 4 thing pipe dream out of ur head and step into reality where nba pfs will have season/career highs against that
as for parsons, he's listed at 227lbs which is good for sf. said he'll bulk up this summer. if he does he he'll be an atheltic freak who can play the 3 and 4 w/o losing anything. he's actually 6' 9.75" in shoes so thats 6'10.
im ok with some small ball lineups, mchale loves small ball. but it shouldnt be the main lineup we run. just let jones or dmo develop ffs. how many first rounders are we gonna fck up?

well Hayes shut down almost all of them except Randolph and Aldridge

As good as this team sounds, we don't have a definite lock for the 4 spot, which is disappointing seeing how much depth we have.
T Jones he was on and off for us last season, and coach mchale used him in spurts. Greg smith was a nice backup center for asik, perhaps he could be the starter pf now too? And D-Mo could have a break out season for us too. Depending how much he improved.
IT's going to be very exciting to see who starts at the 4. If mchale wants to go small, he'd definitely put parsons at 4, and someone else at 3.

motiejunas has been working his butt off in a 5-week training camp in lithuania and had time to organize and participate in a basketball camp for kids, while jones is getting drunk and stomping on homeless people and most here are in favor of jones starting. ridiculous.

The 4 spot could turn out to be our weakest spot or the position that we have a player having a breakout season. It's going to be interesting who performs and starts at PF.

You should probably bring it down a notch. You read a story about how he's been ACCUSED of something, but as far as you're concerned, that's ALL he's been doing with his offseason? I hate when people do this. You hear one thing about someone, and make a complete judgement based on that. Everyone (including you) has been a total dick to somebody else for no real reason. But that one act shouldn't negate everything else you've done. Especially when it has nothing to do with basketball. We rejoiced when we got Ron Artest, and his exploits are very well documented.

i'm not bringing anything down. was he accused by some bystander or some homeless guy? are you intentionally being this dense? it was a police sergeant who witnessed the event. i homer up to certain basketball players like everybody else, but you've really got to be pushing your luck when you try to absolve him of something he's done by a mentioning the words "accused" like it holds so much bearing in this particular case. yes, it's innocent until proven guilty, but short of him video taping this and putting in on youtube showing the event, this case is cut and dried. alcohol will be blamed, but to me, it shows what type of character this person is. lots of people drink, they don't get violent though.
for a cop, a sergeant nonetheless, his testimony (which is the only thing holding this case together at this point and is basically just another day at the office for him in testifying) will definitely get terrence charged regardless of how he pleads.
he won't pay a lot because he can afford a lawyer and there's likely nothing that would show this behavior to be recurring, but trying to play with words is juvenile as i'm sure he'll act up to what he's done, so there's no need to act noble defending him when it's so one-sided (at this point).
ron artest was a headcase. when he came to houston he played well, i admit, but it doesn't absolve him of all the stupidity of his past.
i'm not saying d-mo or jones are super basketball players or that one is greatly better than the other, but personally i wouldn't like to be surrounded by an uncontrollable moron. i don't mean to go on a rant, but people here and on clutchfans are just being intentionally thick wanting a happy ending, denying the wrongdoing of this one individual.

Just stop.
He is a kid and did a stupid thing. Turns out that is what kids do. He is hardly an "uncontrollable moron."
People are advocating for him to start because he is the better player at this point in time and further along in his development.

The police "having witnessed the entire thing" probably doesn't help in the public verdict.
Neither does "he's accused in the media and therefore must be guilty".
Nevermind that media tends to twist things all the time. -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1445203/Nevermind that the police officer who saw this may stand to make a career move by getting Jones in trouble.
Nevermind that police are frequently wrong. My ex-roommate was written up as being at-fault for an auto accident that he
clearly wasn't with the cop having been in perfect position to observe it happening.
Nevermind that no one with nothing to lose would ever falsely accuse an obvious athlete in an attempt to try and extort money from them.
Yadayadayada.
These people are all "authority" and should be believed and followed. They wouldn't say it if it wasn't right. No one ever has ulterior motives, and everyone is always 100% ethical, correct, forthright, and honest.
As. if.
On the other hand, I'm aware of all this myself and even find myself assuming guilt part of the time. The above tools are very powerful and have to very consciously be considered (and those wielding them generally know this).

Fingers crossed that either Motie's or Jones' work this summer pays off.
And no, not subtly referring to Jones' recent incident. Basketball-related only.
