D-Mo @ EuroBasket 2013

D-Mo has had a tough time breaking into the rotation. The LTU coach changes the lineups every game and the team has a lot of good bigs. When he plays meaningful minutes he's actually pretty efficient and productive. Today's game and a previous game against Latvia stand out.
Two nice plays albeit against a weak Belgium team. Today's play of the game... steal, ball handling and finish on display:

The LTU coach is a moron.
Even Jonas Valančiūnas, who was dominating inside, had a hard time cracking the rotation.
You know what LTU coach's response to Valančiūnas' interior domination was? Jonas was bad because he didn't dribble more and take more mid-range jumpers.

I think that Jones starts the season as the starting PF, but that Motie will be the starting PF by the end of the season.

D-Mo really should have chosen NBA Summer League over the LNT since he's barely playing for them and both Smith and Jones had excellent SL performances.

He looks thicker on the upper body, he's not afraid of contact, at least against Euro bigs.
Progress is a beautiful thing.

Yup. He is one of the worst game based coaches int he international scene. He's a great player coach, good for his team and morale but as far as executing, implementing what is right for the game and the moment he is just plain bad. Without a doubt Jonas should of been starting or had 20+ mpg. But he went with his vets out of loyalty. Not to mention Jonas and young guys have been getting this treatment for the last couple years.

Are you kidding me? Both JV and D-Mo showed nothing to deserve more playing time. Im very happy that we won silver but we lost the final match when both Valančiūnas and Motiejūnas shared the floor. They're both still not ready.
Plus you can't really criticize the coach when the team reaches the finals.

Dmo played 4 minutes in the Championship game.
Jonas played 11 minutes in the Championship game.
How are you blaming them for the loss?

Umm I don't have the exact numbers, which i did a couple days ago but i'm pretty sure Jonas led the team in 3-4 statistical categories regardless of his minutes.

JV was the 2nd best C after one of the Lav twins (this guy was amazing offensively). LTU's coach admitted afterwards that he made a mistake by overplaying Javtokas.
Understandably, LTU's coach didn't have much faith in young players like JV, D-Mo and Kuzminskas. As the tournament progressed JV did show that he can be a shot blocker and solid rebounder so minutes for him were warranted. He looked solid as long as LTU wasn't focused on posting him up on ISOs (50% of TO or bad FG attempt). D-Mo looked best against weaker teams but did play well in the 4th against Italy in the quarterfinals.
The country won silver so it is what it is. And EuroBasket is not a tournament to develop NBA's young players.
