Rockets take the Philippines!

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Tue Oct 8, 2013 7:24 pm

Jeremy Lin, the NBA's first American-born player of Taiwanese descent, stole the spotlight Tuesday as the Houston Rockets practiced for the first NBA preseason game in the basketball-obsessed country.

Lin was mobbed by reporters and photographers on a Manila basketball court, a day after the Rockets and Indiana Pacers arrived in the capital for Thursday's game.

Lin said he was thankful for a chance "to inspire people, especially my fellow Asians."

The Pacers are there, too; but come on! It's all about the Rockets!!!

Omer is out for tomorrow's game ...at least that is what he said...he said likely we will see him in the Taiwan game. Mchale will play both Howard and Asik together, but not sure if it will be in the Taiwan game or not. Considering it is Asik, it was a pretty long video interview.

McHale wants Omer to play together with Dwight for 13-14minutes together...Mchale talks about Lin too....video interview

Just gonna put my 2 cents in here.

F@$k the NBA, global game my hairy white arse!!!

Let's take the NBA to London, where 9/10 of the country doesn't give a damn about Basketball. Let's go to Italy, Spain, Africa etc. Let's go all through Asia.

F@$k them Aussies though, no way we want to ever go there!

Let me give you some insight. Chelsea Football Club, (one of the most popular teams in the English Premier League) played an exhibition game here, in front of the largest crowd they have EVER played in front of. (Ditto for Liverpool as well.) the NBA would make a killing if they did some exhibition games here in Australia. But for what ever reason, the NBA has chosen not to do it. (And don't give me crap about us being to far away, if the NBA will travel to Asia, it's not that much of a stretch to come here either!) NBA Cares, yeah right, as long as you don't live in Australia.

Basketball currently sucks in Australia. Maybe this might help boost popularity.

Damn. No better medicine?

Couple things early...

Beverley starting today.

I love the fact Harden's three again came off a screen catch and shoot. And this is the second game in a row he's used that floater in the lane. IIRC, he didn't do as much of that last season.

Our defense has been terrific so far.

Pacers commentators made a good point. Howard really hasn't been catching it in the deep post. He's been more mid-post and trying to use his quickness (with our spacing) to score. And through 2 pre-season games, it's worked offensively. I don't know how much I like those jumpshot attempts though...the 2nd one looked a bit more fluid (even though it was a brick), but the first one was way too hard trying to bank it.

I really wish Asik was playing this game.

Surprised we haven't got subs yet. Bev besides two poor passes has been real good.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about Camby yesterday too.

I want to see Lin dominate and look for his shot off the bench.
