Trade Idea from a Celtics Fan
The Celtics should be trying to lose games this year and quite frankly Brandon Bass has been playing very well and IMHO cost the Celtics a loss last game.
I watched the Houston/Lakers game tonight and I didn't need to even here the commentators say anything to realize the Howard/Asik pairing is not a good fit.
My trade suggestion is
Houston gets:
Brando Bass and Faverani(very cheap backup at center that doesn't need many minutes) to Houston. Bass right now is doing great defensively and his jumper it pretty automatic. Faverani hasn't performed as well as his stats would suggest but he has looked very good for a 2 million a year backup adjusting to the NBA.
Unknown Third team gets:
Asik. Some Celtic fans want Asik but quite frankly I don't want him at all since Boston isn't trying to contend right now. If the Celtics were trying to contend, it wouldn't make sense to trade Bass.
Boston gets:
A stiff player with 1 or 2 years on his contract and a first rounder from the third team getting Asik. A trade like this couldn't be completed until after December 15th.
Maybe Houston can do better in an Asik trade but this trade gives Houston someone that can guard SF's including Carmelo Anthony and even Lebron James at times and PF's while also giving them a stretch 4 that plays very good defense and doesn't demand the ball that much.
And Brandon Bass is clearly a complimentary player but he has pretty much always played well for the Celtics in the playoffs.

I don't see any interest here from Houston's part. Asik has much more value than this.

I am interested in Bass but there has to be a lot more coming back if Asik is in the trade.

Re: Trade Idea from a Celtics Fan
What if, instead of Favarni the Celtics include Avery Bradley.
Boston trades Avery Bradley and Brandon Bass
Boston recieves Kendrick Perkins and Dallas 1st round pick via OKC
Houston trades: Omar Asik
Houston receives: Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley
OKC trades: Kendrick Perkins and Dallas 1st round pick
OKC recieves: Omar Asik
As I read it, that still sucks for Houston. Not all that great for Boston either. OKC would love it though.

Nah...I'd rather not upgrade OKC with that trade.

who ever trades for Asik, they will need to take on Lin, since the ROX are trying to get rid of him

Trade Idea with Orlando Magic
Orlando gets: Omer Asik and Patrick Beverley
Rockets get: Andrew Nicholson, Tobias Harris and Jameer Nelson
ORL wants to get rid of Jameer Nelson so they can start Oladipo at point guard.
Nelson and Dwight were drafted together and played 8 years together so if anyone knows how to get the ball to Howard it's him. He is owed 8 million this year and 8 million next year although only 2 million is guaranteed next year.
Rockets
SF: Parsons, Harris (currently out with sprained ankle), Covington
PF: Casspi, Nicholson, Jones (eventually Harris or Nicholson or Jones could be the starter here)
C: Howard, Smith, Motiejunas
PG: Lin, Nelson, Brooks, Canaan
SG: Harden, Garcia
waived Brewer
Magic
SF: Harkless
PF: Vucevic, Maxiell, Davis, Jones
C: Asik, O'Quinn
PG: Oladipo, Beverley, Price
SG: Afflalo, Moore, Lamb
Vucevic is more of a PF than a true Center. He and Asik can make the twin towers work since he has good range.

Why? they get a top 5 center in Asik and a starting caliber PG in Beverley and this lets Vucevic play his true position.

Vooch is a center and he can rebound as well as Asik, and he has a nice offensive game. Orlando is not looking to move him, or Tobias, or Nicholson. The desire to get a pg of the future is not big enough to move two of their best young prospects and they just don't want Asik.

2 young prospects in Harris and AN TOGETHER with Jameer Nelson, while the team is playing good and Vucevic is playing like one of the best centers in NBA for Asik in order not to play anymore Vuc at C and Bev...bet Orlando thinks this is a great idea.....

Re: Trade Idea with Orlando Magic
I don't think Oladipo is a point guard. He's a 2 guard and I'd guess Orlando is looking to draft a point in 2014.
I do, however, think Orlando could be a good trade partner. I recently proposed this:
Orlando gets: Omer Asik
Orlando sends: Hedo Turkoglu, 1st round pick
Houston gets: Ersan Ilyasova, Ekpe Udoh
Houston sends: Omer Asik, Terrence Jones
Milwaukee gets: Hedo Turkoglu, Terrence Jones, Orlando 1st round pick
Milwaukee sends: Ersan Ilyasova, Ekpe Udoh

Rockets Trade Ideas Thread 2013/14
In order to keep the board from being cluttered, I'm going to start this thread for any trade ideas on the board involving Rockets players.
If you have an idea then it goes here. I'll roll any new threads into this one.
texasholdem & soxfan200 - nothing wrong with the threads you posted, just doing some organization.

IMO this wouldn't be fine for Orlando which doesn't need another C having Vucevic playing like he is, also they are building around young guys and giving up a 1st doesn't fit that. Hedo is also expiring if I remember well...

Very nice. I think this board will get a bunch on Asik, at least.
Sticky-worthy imo

I agree they have Vucevic and he's playing well, but he could also be potentially effective as a PF next to Asik. Depends on Orlando's view obviously. Also Orlando has 2 1st round picks and could give up the pick of lesser value.
Hedo is expiring, which is what Milwaukee would want. Orlando gives up very little to add a true center and solidifies their frontcourt before they draft a top tier point guard in 2014 with their other 1st rounder.
Milwaukee is essentially pulling the plug on the season to improve their own 1st round position while getting a 21 yr old Terrence Jones and an additional 1st round pick in 2014 to add to their youth movement.
Houston is getting another PF who is better than any of the other 4s on the Rockets roster in Ilyasova. Udoh can play 4/5 and would fill in nicely with the roster as a defender. Houston remains a great rebounding team, but becomes better offensively while giving up very little defensively.

I see your point, I see the advantage for Houston and I see the advantage for Milwaukee. Still, with Magic, they're playing well without Harris and they could just find themselves to be not so bad as they thought, maybe they even can't really know if their pick is worse than the Nuggets'...and possibly being not so bad, they could also think of going for a FA not having a high pick instead of tanking (you know, winning culture and all that stuff) and in that case turkoglu's contract would be very useful...btw it is obviously soon in the season:)

Re: Rockets Trade Ideas Thread 2013/14
Yes I agree it hinges on Orlando's own motivations, but giving up an expiring contract and a late 1st is pretty for Asik is pretty good value for Orlando.
Orlando could start next season:
Marcus Smart
Victor Oladipo
Maurice Harkless
Nikola Vucevic
Omer Asik
with Tobias Harris as a 6th man.
Or they could decline and stick with playing small ball. All depends on their philosophy, but in terms of value and potential, I think it's pretty good.
