I'm just hoping it is due to his reported foot injuries and that he hasn't actually regressed on defense (is that even possible?).

It's possible. He's using so much energy on the offensive end with Iso plays that he doesn't work on the defensive side. This rocket team reminds me of the McMillan/BRoy days. A bunch of Iso and tough shots. Roy was always just an avg defender because he could just make up those pts he allowed by scoring a bucket. Iso n PnR's were the plays... always :-?

He plays too many minutes. Imo, Harden CAN play good defense whenever he wants to but it's hard when he's on the floor 40 minutes per game and has to reserve his energy for offensive output. McHale needs to realize that less can be more like in this case.

Clippers are probably the worst matchup for Harden, especially with him hurt. He has played better defense against all the other teams. His defense needs to improve a ton, but there are a ton of stats that point to Harden NOT being such a huge liability on defense that he can't be hidden on subpar offensive players.

i say sit him out a couple of games if that will help him heal. i'd rather have him for the long haul healthy.

Better offensive attack should allow him to spend a bit more energy on the defensive end. I have no worries about this subject matter.

I'm still fairly confident this has a lot to do with his foot injuries because he doesn't look as explosive or aggressive on the offensive end either. If resting him allows his foot injuries to heal faster I think it would definitely be wise to do so.

Poor defender + foot injuries + heavy minutes = bad defense. You would think that mchale would be able to figure this out.

mc hale needs to stick with a 11 man rotation. Parson is logging like 38 min. He is bound to get an injury sometime this season.

This is slightly off topic.

When Harden parks himself between the post and the wing and demand the ball. Is this a part of the offense or is he breaking plays to run ISOBeard?

It looks really awkward.

I already thought the dribble handoff was lame, but this is ugly excuse for post up is even worse.

Is BJ the one to blame for this?

It's a matter of effort and awareness. James plays poor defense because he doesn't know how. Van Gundy wouldn't put up with that crap from him.
