I sort of think of him as a cross between Gil and Baron Davis, actually.

This is either a joke, or you've never seen him play.

There is NOTHING similar about their games. NOTHING. And that's not even hyperbole. They are NOTHING alike.

harden does think he's michael jorden more often than not. sometimes ray allen too, but jordan mostly. not the easiest characters to replicate. i hope he terminates this "jordan/allen hybrid transformation" project sooner than later.

hehe he reminds ME of mj - not everybodys brain makes the same connections and association.... he may also remind me of my bearded grandfather who never played bb...if not hyperbole it could be metaphor...or could be they are similar in being great stars...their games dont have to be similar for one to trigger associations of other in brain...

At his prime, Arenas was great. At 24 years old, Arenas posted 29 ppg, 6 asst, 4 TO, 2 Stl.

So by stats, Arenas was slightly better than Harden.

intangibles are intangible. Like defense with Harden. lol

If Harden wanted rings, he would have stayed with OKC. Not sign to play with Jeremy Lin.

Arenas was an elite player in his prime. No shame to be compared to him.

arenas gamble a lot of defense but he's better defensive player
he doesn't just stand there and do nothing
arenas also do lot of outside shooting and not driving to the basket that much

I don't think Harden has done anything to separate himself from Arenas, but his 06 numbers are somewhat deceiving. That season was a scoring avalanche for wing players. Kobe, Iverson, and LeBron all averaged career highs in scoring because by taking advantage of rule changes and foul calls.

Harden and Arenas

are/were

no where near

Kobe and LeBron level

and these guys are not as good as MJ was

Harden still has upside... and has proven he can play D when he wants too...(I would like to see it every game or at least in the playoffs where it counts)

but I doubt he becomes as good as Kobe or LeBron

but even then that would make him a superstar...

I dunno their offensive games are pretty different. Their numbers are kinda similar tho I guess. Harden drives a lot more and draws a lot more fouls because of it. Arenas was a better shooter IMO even though they have similar %'s.

I just think Harden's an Arenas-type player. And, like Arenas, he'll peak early. Especially when you play the kind of game he does, getting 40% of your points by drawing fouls, he'll age like a big man rather than a guard. Also, like Arenas, especially now that he's been away from the OKC totalitarian bubble for a while, he'll care increasingly less about getting a chip--or, more likely, he's probably assuming that eventually he'll automatically get one (and guys like that never win). I just don't think he's that special. And I don't think this team, at least as they are presently configured, will be a contender. They still need a real alpha leader. Neither Dwight nor Harden is such a leader. Perennial second-round fodder is what, I think, they are.

Yes we all know what a vocal leader Tim Duncan has been in San Antonio...

Yeah we need a leader, but doesn't have to come from the top player on a team. It can be from the coach. Whether McHale is it or not is another question entirely...

Way to go out on a limb that we're not a currently a contender...

Dwight already made the finals once FYI...

I don't know what to say about aging like a big man, that is silly. Maybe you meant age like DWade...
