Raptor fan here. PP was only with SAC for 1 season while you guys had a chance to see him for almost 3 seasons and would probably do a better evaluation on him

What's your take on Patrick Patterson and what's his ceiling?

As the ceiling thing goes what you see is what you get. He is not going to get better.

Runs the floor, good mid range J, can be a double digit scorer, pedestrian rebounder, did not have many sets ran for him and he never showed a post game. However, his interior D is okay.

He is a poorer version of a prime Brandon Bass.

good help defender
not a very good one on one defender
used to be deadly on mid range jumper
but not as good after first season
develop 3 pts shots after 2 years
bad defensive rebounder but a good offensive rebounder

He has basketball smarts down so he is usually in the right place/time to be a very solid defender specifically on the PnR. His lack of size and speed are the only thing from stopping him from being an elite defender.

We saw different Pattersons in his time here. In the beggining his midrange set shot from the elbows were practically automatic. Midrange shots were not in the Rocket playbook, so he completely changed his game into a stretch four and developed a very accurate three point shot. This leads me to believe he is very coachable and do what the team needs of him.

His rebounding and post game were mediocre. Patterson is a serviceable player, but limited in upside.

He was a solid BBG with range out to 3pt line. Dependable defender but a crap rebounder. Has a tendency to turn invisible when his shots are missing.

Good role player.

Yeah I like Patrick Patterson, he's a solid player. He's exactly the kind of guy you can have coming off the bench for 15-20 minutes to provide some mid-range/outside shooting.

he's part of the rare power forward blend where he can get 19 pts with 1 rebound

good backup pf. he can defend, score, stretch, postt up, rebound, agile, sets good picks. he can do a lotta things but he's very average and inconsistent at them. added a 3pt game afte rhouston.

Role player, like most role players, can be good in the right situation, not so good in other situation.

generally he doesn't have the best athleticism in the world though. has trouble against bigger PF and not fast enough to guard wings, pretty solid understanding of rotations on both ends.

statistically his problem is that he rebounds like a small forward. his offensive game is heavily jump shot reliant so if he's cold he's virtually worthless, but he can get hot at times, and is pretty good against smaller lineups without great wing penetraters.

He has his uses.

See, but what if he's talking to someone that has a girlfriend?
Worse, what if he's talking to someone that's married?

Is Patrick really all about breaking up families like that?
Does he just enjoy rampant hypocrisy?

Does he just not see any value in rebounding?
Does he see value in rebounding, but have no interest in ramping up his efforts in the area?

He should really consider his challenges a bit more thoroughly.
Think of your career, Patrick. Not to mention the kittens. Think of the kittens, too.

after having a 19pt/1rebound game, he should've preserved his honor and go ham on rebounding in practice and on his own time. average 10 a game. make everyone forget about that game. i would've been like "what game are u talking about?"

good thing no one knows about that game he had

Undersized and tends to fall in love with his 3 pt shot. His ceiling is a bench player.
