When does the Asik trade happen?

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Sun Dec 15, 2013 6:07 pm

What's the speculation? Will we see a quick deal, or will Morey use up all of the time before his Dec. 19th target?

Will there be no deal at all?

BONUS - Where will he go?

Don't care, good riddance.

I'll care if he stays in the West.

Not that much, but a bit.

I can't help but think that if he goes to Philly then Hinkie will flip him at the deadline to OKC or Portland. If the rumored Philly deal is the best on the table then Morey may not accept it until the 20th. If Philly still wants it then, that is...

Wouldn't effect Philly's ability to flip him in the slightest. First, most logical Asik flips can be done without aggregating (who would take Asik and send back a 12m+ contract?). Second, the aggregating restriction that would apply to whoever Morey gets back for Asik wouldn't even apply to Philly at all.

CBAfaq wrote:In addition, teams cannot trade players under the following circumstances:

For two months after receiving the player in trade, if the trade aggregates the player's salary with the salaries of other players. However, the team is free to trade the player immediately, either by himself or without aggregating his salary with other salaries. This restriction applies only to teams over the salary cap.

I don't see Philly flipping Asik if they trade for him. They will try to extend him right away and will make an effort to re-sign him if he becomes a free agent. He would be in their long term plans. Same for the Hawks if they get him. I don't see Asik going West.

I didn't realize that was the case, HW.

Hinkie will totally flip him back West if he gets him

Hinkie wouldn't dare cross Morey!

Ok maybe he would damn... Honestly I don't think anyone has ever come close in predicting a Morey, why bother trying?

Are there any recent out of favor lottery picks like, Hill, Thabeet, TRob?

Good info by Feigen just earlier today:

http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/ ... c4f992f472

With the emergence of Terrence Jones as the starting power forward, Morey is not determined to find a starter at the position. He hopes to come away with either a strong defensive wing who can catch-and-shoot, a power forward who can fill in as a backup center, or expiring contracts that come with first-round picks - or some combination of those assets.

Voted Monday for a hopeful quick resolution, but expecting it to go through Thursday like an Ebay countdown.

If there were more dominant 5's in the league Asik would be worth more...

you just know he is going to shut down Howard when they meet up next

This is my prediction.

Heat get: Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin and Terrence Jones
Rockets get: Chris Bosh, Norris Cole and Chris Birdman Andersen
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

My initial reaction to that proposal was to vomit all over the place.

On second viewing, however, I really don't know what to think about it.
Bosh has 2 more option years after this one. Anderson and Cole both signed for one more year.

Very intriguing, but I really don't know whether I'd be happy or upset about it.
Morey 2020.
