Yes. He will be called up from the D-league. Ave. 21.7 pts, 9.2 assists. RT @MrClutch514: @Jonathan_Feigen chances Canaan gets called up?

Eventually, I'm sure. Don't know when he'll be up to those mins. RT @solidz75: @Jonathan_Feigen does this mean Lin back in starting line up?

Depends on Lin's health. RT @3ptTheHardenWay: @Jonathan_Feigen Do you think @SiP03 will get thrown into mix early or go solely Lin/Brooks?

Anyone watch a RGV game yet? Is he able to do anything else besides shoot 3's? haha
Every time he hits a shot in the Toyota center they should play that DJ Cannon soundbite.

I'd imagine he's insurance for Lin and Brooks.

I hope Bev gets well soon, I'm a big fan of the kid, really hard not to like or root for him.

Beverley haters worldwide...rejoice! This is your day.

Get well Pat. I guess now we find out if his defense was that big of a difference maker.

It would be hilarious if Isaiah gets the starting job and Lin still comes off the bench. His "fans", who don't seem to care about his success beyond stats, might slit their wrists.

Please keep that crap on Clutchfap. One of the reasons the RealGM Knicks board never devolved into that LOH/LOF idiocy on Clutchfap was that the Knicks moderators were firm and stopped any such name-calling that polarized discussion and segregated forum members by questioning their fanhood.

So don't start with the "fans" crap. Discuss the points made, not the forum members and whether they're fans or "fans" or whatever other snide personal attacks you want to make. Keep that LOH/LOF, "fans" idiocy on clutchfap. It's not even tolerated on TheDreamShake.

Do we want this forum to be like TheDreamShake or the RealGM Knicks forum? Or do we want it to devolve into that LOH/LOF idiocy on clutchfap because the moderators there tolerate name calling with labels and broad brushing groups and instigating forum poster segregation and snide personal attacks on posters' "fanhood" (you know, like your statement of instigation).

Canaan has been a monster in the Ds.

http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/12/rockets-to-call-up-guard-isaiah-canaan-from-d-league/

With Pat Beverley (fractured right hand) out and James Harden (sprained ankle) and Jeremy Lin (back spasms) considered day-to-day, the Rockets will call up rookie Isaiah Canaan from the NBA Development League. Canaan averaged 21.7 points and 9.2 assists with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Harden missed Saturday’s game against the Pistons. Lin missed the past four games. He had missed six games with a sprained and bruised knee and returned for two before going out again. Center Omer Asik (knee soreness) and Greg Smith (sprained knee) are out.

“We got to get everybody healthy,” Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. “We have to get everybody playing well when they are healthy. We haven’t had Omer in a long time. Jeremy Lin has been out for a long time. We’ve had other guys in and out of the lineup. Hopefully, if we can get everybody healthy and get a nine-, 10-man rotation down, then everybody would know when they’re going to come in and the amount of minutes they’re going to play.”

I really liked him coming out of Murray State and have been following what he's been doing in the D-League. I think he can come into the NBA and make an impact. His jumper has still been a little inconsistent, but it's his strongest skill when he's on and still finds ways to score when it is not falling. Probably the biggest concern about him coming out was if he could play PG at the next level after putting up low AST numbers at Murray State but he was 2nd in the D-League this year in APG at 9.17 per game, and definitely looked capable of playing the position. I hope he plays well for you guys.

Shooting is usually the most translatable skill for players going from the college game to the NBA, once they've adjusted for the NBA 3pt line and defense. He's had a chance to do that in the D-League. If he can shoot well, he can always find a niche in the NBA as a role player at the very least (see Novak).

It's the other things like fundamental help defense, decision making, etc, that takes a bit more time to translate to an NBA level. But shooting should be the easier trait to translate from college.

Beverley said that every player needed to do one thing really well in order to get a foot in the NBA door, to catch a coach's attention for play time. For him, he said it was defense. For Canaan, perhaps it can be shooting.

Lin will play tonight
so ... you may or may not see Canaan play tonight
i don't think McHale will put play a rookie first NBA game in a game against division rivalry (at least not major min)

C - Howard/Smith
PF - Jones/Casspi
SF - Parsons/Brewer
SG - Garcia
PG - Lin/Brooks

will probably see a lot of Parsons on Nowitzki and Garcia at SF and Lin/Brooks in backcourt
