Rockets pursuing Rondo?

Looks like cyberx has dropped another huge rumor on Clutchfans, not sure how receptive he is on RealGM but even Clutch recently posted that he's a big believer in cyberx himself. Anyways here's what he had to say from what I read so far:

Morey is trying to make this happen. Has his connections in Bos with Ainge as everyone knows.

Don't be surprised if it happens as deadline approaches.

Lakers are looking to possibly get Rondo as well. Seeing if they can get that 2nd pick from a Pau trade to throw in for Rondo.

Rondo will be a vocal leader and lead by example - Something Harden and Dwight are incapable of doing...
Also lead by playing BOTH ends of the floor.

Rockets are willing to give up Parsons in this deal... Boston is getting giddy.

Heard Boston wants McLemore, I. Thomas, and two first rounders from Sacramento...

They are talking to several teams.

I never said this is going to go down and happen.

Do you know how many scenarios go back and forth...?
Rockets don't feel they can win a championship with this exact roster.
Celts are down for Bev as well.

Morey will do whatever to keep Parsons, but he knows how difficult it can be with the new CBA. Parsons will be pricey, believe it or not, there could be teams close to offering him the max.

Dmo is definitely being discussed

Parsons is not being offered aggressively by any means. Morey would consider it for Rondo... He's not "untouchable".

In a response to a post suggesting pursuing Love:

Love has his eyes on LA

I don't who the guy is and damn that thread is too long to read... but i'm getting weak in the knees thinking about Parsons getting trade... and then also Bev!?!
:(

cyberx has been credible in the past so I wouldn't doubt this. I think the Rockets would be making a mistake if they let Parsons go, who's going to be our glue guy? Rondo is a great player when healthy but would he be able to work well with Harden who likes to have the ball in his hands? Unless they want to convert Harden back to a true SG which is a little bit late at this juncture, it's not like Rondo is going to get back to his prime coming off an injury.

I also think that Morey is just fielding as many options as possible including the previously rumored Asik/Lin for Shump (or THJR)/Chandler, doesn't mean that he's close to pulling the trigger with these. His primary focus should be to deal away Asik and work around that.

Rondo has missed 110 regular season games in the past 4 years due to injuries
Rondo has missed 3 regular season games in the past 4 years due to contact with a referee
Rondo has missed 2 regular season games in the past 4 years due to a fight with Kris Humphries.

Rondo has missed 115 games out of 284 games in the past 4 years.
Yao Ming missed 143 games out of 328 games in his final 4 seasons.

I believe what he meant with the post on Bev is that the Celtics would be willing to a deal centered around Bev, not Bev+Parsons.

I hope none of these rumors are true but cyberx has been creditable in the past

I never watch much of Boston except for in the playoffs, where Rondo worked fine with Pierce. The guy is a beast damn near unstoppable at least the past several years i've seen him in the PO.

But texasholdem brought up some good points which I didn't realize... I've had my fill with injury prone stars.

I don't know, sure if we could have a trade centered around Bev or Parsons for Rondo, that seems too good to be true. Its impossible would have to add one of Lin/Asik to match salaries, Morey also doesn't have any good lottery picks to trade...

The only thing I just can't believe is max money to Parsons that is just crazy and a massive overpay

True but I don't think Pierce demands the ball as much as Harden does, Harden will have to adjust his game if Rondo comes. I just don't think McHale/Harden will know how to handle this situation lol.

If Parsons is in the discussions then I believe that is Boston really trying to get a second First Round Pick from Houston.

I could see Houston saying that they only want to give up one, and Boston is replying "2, or 1 & Parsons."

I would take one plus Parsens in a heart beat and give up Rondo. Good deal for Boston.

Asik, Bev, Motiejunas, and a future 1st rounder for Rondo and Olympic or Feverani should get it done...GET ER DONE MOREY!

Yeah I'm as high on Parsons as the next guy but max or close to max that's crazy. Do people really think Parsons is better overall than say Batum?

If Morey does trade Parsons for Rondo you pretty much have to assume to Harden will be moving to SF, with Bev or Lin sliding to SG.

I'd take Parsons over Batum.

Chandler 17ppg, 50% fg, 40%3pt, 5.6rpg, 3.7apg, 1.9topg
Nicolas 12.9ppg, 46% fg, 33%3pt, 6.5rpg, 5.4apg, 2.6topg

This is only Chandler's 3rd year. Batum has been in the league for 6.

I think Parsons can get a near-max deal somewhere else which the team can't afford.

Well first of all they are the same age. Second of all Batum is making ~11M a year, not max. Lastly you have to look at it from the context of when Batum got his contract. He's having a bit of a down year this year, statistically.

The point is that I was using Batum's contract (in the 2012 offseason) as a barometer to what Parsons would command in FA. To offer Parsons max or close to max money is to try to make the case that he is significantly better that Batum, which I do not buy at all.

Yes I know they are the same age but I think Batum's ceiling has been somewhat established while Parsons hasn't yet. Parsons after 3 years is signficantly better than Batum was after 3 years. Yeah Batum got paid after his 4th which was a good year but not amazing.

I'm not saying offer the max or match the max on Parsons necessarily but I think he is worth at least what Batum makes.

Update from cyberx:

It has been discussed on some level (Rondo to Houston)

Do I feel confident it will happen? Right now I think the Rockets do not have the strongest offer for Boston... IF they cave in to give Parsons at the deadline... I put the Rockets as the front runner.

Ainge feels Parsons could LEAD the Celtics team and be a vocal leader on and off the floor for a group of young guys.

Aingle and Morey are both doing their jobs... That is to discuss everything they can. Does that mean it is going to happen? Of course not. But does that mean the Rockets GM is busting his butt and looking at EVERY possibility? YES.

So if Rockets get rid of Asik... Then they get that 1st rounder from Phili... Meaning they have TWO first rounders to trade...

Maybe for Rondo? :)

Rondo is a top player in this league... This guy has it right..

Also - You guys don't think Morey is a LITTLE worried that CP may not last in the long run? Just saying... There is SOME concern there... Just saying.

I'd be more concerned with Rondo's knee. Derrick Rose anyone?
