Was checking salaries and noticed this:

Parson, Lin and Asik on contract year for next season. Do you think this will make them play double as good or make them valueable pieces for a trade? I know that Lin and Parsons are desperate to get new contracts as bigger guys like Asik will always get big contracts (and he also wants to start).

Can we expect big things from these guys?

For sure Asik and Lin are gone. Contract years are so easy to trade. Besides they only count as 8m on the cap not 15m as what they actually pay. Plus theyre young and has room for improvement. Ignore the LOh who say That nobody wants Lin because of this and that. Theyre jus saying that because they actually want him back. If he doesnt, they lose their agenda and things would be too boring for them. Creepy lol. I guess they make another username like Lars and follow the other teams' forum.

I rather keep Asik to be honest, I think if we got a better PF (dream Melo), then Asik could play with both D12 and Melo (playing small ball).

Lin I dont know, he is like lotto ticket. Most of the times u lose but sometimes you get some good winning numbers.

I want to keep Asik too, but the way he acted earlier in the season tells me he wants to be a starter so we have to trade him.

If Lin would take less money I wouldn't mind keeping him; but I think he's more professional about it, but he'd like to start somewhere too and become a free agent.

They're going to play well, any player would be crazy not to in a contract year. So it's as good a year as ever to see what options we have.

If Morey is keeping McHale, both Lin and Asik will leave. They are not wasting their development years playing backup minutes.

Morey has to make the decision on Parson this season. Pay him now or pay him later.

Anyways, I don't think the rotation of Bev/Harden/Canaan at PG is very healthy. The team needs a passing PG and Lin is fine, I don't think it makes a whole lot of sense to trade Lin for another passing PG.

The fact that Morey has to unload both Asik and Lin to free up cap space, in addition to their balloon final salary, makes it unlikely they are traded in my eyes. They are likely going to run out their contracts and then be on their merry way. Asik will be highly desired on the FA market. Lin will probably have to decide if he wants to go on some basement dwelling team to get starter minutes or play a back-up role on a team where he would be a better fit than in HOU. Bargain contract for GSW perhaps?

I'm guessing they pick up Parsons option and then possibly resign him next offseason, depending on how next season plays out for him. They need a cheap 3 and D wing and spend their freed up cap space for a star PF. If we can get Love or LMA we would be really, really, REALLY scary.

The Rockets definitely want to move Asik and Lin. The problem is no one wants them. Morey has said both Lin and Asik were on the table early into the season. The only trade rumors I saw involving Lin were started by fans or media from Houston trying to fish for interest.

Well, some teams want them but since that strange coaching decision, Morey got low-ball offers and he wouldn't budge. We're lucky that the Asik trade didn't happen, otherwise we likely would have been swept. McHale giving Morey his own poison pill by benching them and only using them when it matters, but unfortunately, the team wasn't used to these lineups, in contrast to the Blazers who have a very good and consistent rotation throughout the season. What a disappointing and stupid way to end the season. But it's strange that Morey still wants to retain him......smokescreen?

Well depends on their trade value I guess? If they are given the opportunity to shine like if they both started this season or if a player is out a while, they would be good value. Asik had monster games when Dwight was out and Lin had monster games when Harden was out. Both played pretty well in the postseason. Not out of the question that they could fetch something good? Or maybe Harden gets traded?

Lin played bad this year only because of a stupid coaching decision. He averaged 17 and 7 end of last season, leading the team into the playoffs, no reason he can't do it again this or next season or the season after with a good strategic coach. And it wasn't that bad anyways, he averaged 15.6 points and 5.2 assists per 36 minutes, FG 45% and 3pt 36%; not too shabby for a young player. And it all depends on who his teammates are. I mean he is certainly better than George Hill and Chalmers. (he's less experienced now of course)

I don't see LMA leaving Portland after what just happened (double whammy?), they have a good owner, good coach, PG, etc, just need better backup bigs than TRob, or maybe TRob gets better? Love would be real nice. Would be interesting who their new coach gonna be. If Morey could pull off something like Parsons and Asik for Love and Brewer, or Harden and TJ for Love and KMart, it'd be pretty cool.

To get another max or close to max player. Morey has pretty much flat out said that's his goal many times.

Lin & Asik won't go anywhere until summer, 2015. BOOOOOOOOOK it.
