How Do You Rank our Off Season Options?

Post#1 » by 90sAllDecade » Sat May 17, 2014 2:40 am

How do you rank our off season options?

For me player wise:

1. Melo
2. Millsap
3. Lowry
4. Rondo
5. Edit: D̶e̶r̶o̶n̶ ̶W̶i̶l̶l̶i̶a̶m̶s̶

Other moves:

1. Defensive Assistant Coach
2. 3&D players

Barring us not getting a third star; if we signed Lowry outright, worked out an Asik for Millsap trade and Morey made minor moves for an assistant coach/role-player I'd be very happy.

There is already another thread for this, but I would..

Get Melo.

Keep Parsons.

Trade away Harden.

Build team around Dwight and Melo with 3D guys.

Oh and lastly, get a real coach.

1. Love
2. Milsap
3. 3&D wing
4. Stand pat (Lin-Harden-Parsons-TT)
vs Melo (depends what we have to give up)(one of Harden and Melo off the bench)

We will definitely get a new defensive assistant coach since Cooper was fired. Just gotta hope he's real good.

Not a bad idea

Harden would be fine also, IF HE PLAYED DEFENSE.

I'm also fine with trading away all the other players not mentioned.

I hear George Hill is available, that guy might be good at HOU, that also depends if Harden plays defense.

Mo Williams is opting out of his contract with Portland, let's sign him!

Rumor is that Mo will opt out of his current contract to renegotiate with Portland for a even longer 3 year+ contract.

Also, why not Lance Stephenson?

Ok, now after looking at the list, I have to also add Bosh if no Melo. Maybe even above Melo.

Mo Williams is terrible and a horrible fit, and I don't agree trading Asik+Lin for Rondo or DWill will make us better anyway. Do people remember how terrible our bench defense was when Asik was out?

I think Melo and Love are the real deals though. While both not great defenders they both rebound well and are so gifted offensively that I don't think it will matter. Millsap is good too, and while not the blockbuster Melo/Love would be, Millsap's cheaper contract may allow us to re-sign Parsons.

Would be hilarious if we could get Lowry back though. I still think we'd get more value by upgrading at PF.

Also I think it's a given we're going to bring a defensive-minded coach on board. It's pretty much a lock.

MKL/BayB, I was kidding about signing Mo Williams, he's a punkassbitch who I hope never wins a title.

I do agree with you about getting Bosh over Melo though.

I missed this, No on DWill:

Deron Williams may need surgery
Updated: May 15, 2014, 10:01 PM ET

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Deron Williams will undergo an MRI on both of his ankles on Friday, and the Brooklyn Nets point guard believes surgery may be a possibility. He then plans to meet with noted foot/ankle surgeon Dr. Martin O'Malley on Monday.

Deron Williams will undergo an MRI on both ankles and says surgery is a possibility.
"I think so. I think it is," Williams said Thursday when asked about the possibility of undergoing surgery. "Just to clean [stuff out], it's nothing major."

Williams has been hindered by lingering ankle injuries for the past two seasons. He received multiple cortisone shots and platelet-rich plasma injections to ease the pain, but the problem hasn't gone away...

This offseason, Williams is focused on getting healthy and returning to All-Star form...

Trending Down
Deron Williams has seen his points, assists and shooting percentage all drop each postseason since leaving Utah. This year, Williams posted career postseason lows in all three...

In January, Williams received a cortisone shot and a PRP injection in both of his ankles. He then received a cortisone shot and an anti-inflammatory injection prior to Game 7 of the team's first-round series against the Toronto Raptors. Last season, Williams received three sets of cortisone shots and a PRP injection due to inflammation in both ankles.

"I have been worried about [getting so many cortisone shots]," Williams said with a laugh. "I've had a lot."

Williams averaged just 14.3 points and 6.1 assists on 45 percent shooting in 64 games during the regular season. In the playoffs, he averaged 14.5 points and 5.8 assists on 39.5 percent shooting in 12 games.

Williams, who turns 30 on June 26, struggled against the Miami Heat, shooting just 1-for-11 from the field in the fourth quarter of the second-round series, which went five games. He went just 8-for-21 inside the restricted area during the series and 2-for-11 on mid-range shots.

Williams still has three years and $63.1 million remaining on his contract.

Unless there is some kind of CBA Amnesty magic where Brooklyn can eat half of his contract, I Do not want.

Hill is best playing combo guard off the bench, would be nice if Bev or Lin is traded; if Harden is traded and a rotation of Bev, Lin and Hill would be undersized. Does he want to come off the bench tho? Actually he would be perfect to come off the bench playing the Lin role which isn't quite suitable for Lin. Some kinda trade involving Lin and Hill maybe? Lin is definitely the better player with much higher upside, at least in terms of play-making and scoring, so they would have to send us something else even with Lin's poison pill, like Scola? ~lol~ Maybe pick? They aren't rich tho, so not sure they can pay the poison. Salary is pretty close between Hill and Lin straight up. We could include 3 mil so that leaves 4 mil.

This trade would make the Pacers a better team because slashing and play making are two areas where they need the most. Whether this trade helps the Rockets depends on one's evaluation of Lin. McHale would definitely welcome it. Morey depends, if the rumor that Les is the one who wanted Lin and Morey is the one who benched him is true then Morey would be happy about it too. The Fasncists would definitely be ecstatic. I prefer Lin + TT starting, real good for playoffs (McHale and Il Duce would look real dumb), but if Lin is still going to perplexingly come off the bench I think Hill would be more effective in that role. But then Asik also needs to be traded because Bev and Asik would mean bad spacing and Asik doesn't want to come off the bench. TJ is still not ready, that means we would need to get a starting PF and a backup center to be a contender.

So, how about:

Lin + cash for Hill + pick?

Parsons yelling at MoWill is exactly why we shouldn't trade him. That is something our superstars are supposed to be doing, exhibiting leadership and protecting his teammates. I'll be really disappointed if Morey deals him.

As long as McHale is the coach, there is really no use talking about fine details of potential PGs.

Look at the history here. Lin, Dragic, Lowry all became better after leaving McHale.

This is Lin's 2nd tour with McHale. Dis Cat doesn't know or care about developing his PG, and probably spend majority of his day at memory lane Celticland.

Morey comes up with excuses for the fail season, stating that McHale only had 1 year with Dwight. This is the same team that was in the playoff the previous season and without Dwight.

But Morey has always been about excuses, he rarely throws anyone under the bus, that is more McHale's signature move. It's like management is bipolar.

morey cut lin the first time because we need to make room for dalembert
lowry wants out because he's not happy with mchale system
dragic gone because morey wont give him the 4th year
lin and dragic departure has nothing to do with mchale
lowry is on both side even lowry admitted himself
but lowry got you haren

Yeah Bosh would be interesting as well, but I think it's pretty unlikely the big 3 don't pick up their player options next year.

Miami big 3 will decline their options to sign for a longer term contract.

If we can trade Harden for Melo, do it. The difference between the 2 is the Melo can score while Harden score from from drawing fouls.

Melo has better defense and also he is willing to share the ball now. He finally realized that ballhogger doesn't win championship

If Miami wins championship #3 they stay there. If they lose to Indiana or San Antonio/OKC I think they will break up and go their separate ways.

Well, they gonna make more money elsewhere. Wade isn't gonna hold up much longer it seems. Does Bosh want to play third fiddle any longer?
