WT: Carmelo considering Rockets, Mavericks and Bulls

Post#1 » by texasholdem » Wed Jun 11, 2014 11:11 pm

Getting dejavu from last summer with Dwightwatch.

Dallas has cap room but has to re-sign Dirk, Vince, Marion.
Rockets and Bulls in the same situation cap wise. Would have to trade some salary for picks.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

The last person the Rockets need on this team is Carmelo. No D, too much shooting.

Anyone else think that it would actually be really funny if the "Big Four" in Miami actually happened?

Talk about taking trolling to another level!

are they going to divide the cap space equally like last time?
or lebron get the max while the other 3 divide the remaining equally?
or force wade to take the veteran minimum

Heh. Wade is on the decline though. He's next contract isn't going to be at the max or near max.

Poor Wade, I hope he got over those nightmares with KD dunking on him.

Now that Wade has declined so much it's definitely a possibility that LeBron opts out and bolt. We'll see. I don't see them all taking less money to add Carmelo.

I don't see how that would be remotely possible with Kobe's new deal.

Besides - players should go play with LeBron, not the other way around.

But Lebron already set precedent by going to Miami and forming the big 3. Lebron decision 3.0. Wade is done as a superstar, his knee can't take it.

That was a different situation. Wade, LeBron & Bosh were all in a situation where they could agree to certain deals that would allow them to team up and maintain some room to keep solid players around them.

Kobe makes between 23-25M for the next two seasons. Miami didn't have a salary cap hurdle like that to deal with. They also had the benefit of being in the second best state in terms of taxes while staying in a weaker conference.

You're putting forth a situation where you're asking these players to leave a good situation and go to a state with the worst tax situation in a stacked conference to team up with a guy who takes up a majority of the salary cap? And you say that Wade is done as a superstar...where does that leave Kobe? Are you expecting the Kobe of 2008 to show up?

I don't see any realistic situation where LeBron is the guy who leaves his current situation to team up with someone else. He's the guy in the place where the other players are going to want to go.

I agree with you that the Kobe contract is ridiculous.

Lebron doesn't have to go to Lakers, Dirk with Mavs is willing to take less money for a Lebron type superstar.

Is Wade willing to take less salary than Dirk? His body can't endure a regular season.

Also, Duncan is already earning below Max too.

Lebron has options, and Bosh can leave too. The dominoes can fall.

It would be interesting how the Kobe situation's gonna play out.

I really hope LeBron doesn't go to the Mavs, that'd be frigging scary.

I don't mind if he comes here tho.

Woj says that Melo is leaving the Knicks and leaning towards Bulls and Rockets....i hope Morey just waits till after the Finals to speak with Lebron...or July 1st i should say in terms of legally being able to contact Lebron. I still don't think we need a 3rd star, but i'm very intrigued with this. Hopefully, the Spurs run over the Heat tomorrow to finish it off. I want the Heat to suffer a devastating final game to make Lebron really question what to do this summer.

If earning more ring is a primary motive, then Melo, Wade, Bosh and James can form a big 4 by taking less pay.

I don't see any chance James is leaving Miami.

Yes, Wade can take less money and will do it.

Not gonna happen. They're going to the Houston Rockets.

Why do people assume Lebron has any loyalty to Miami?

Lebron went to Miami to win championships and they got 2 done. They lost this year. Lebron can go elsewhere and form a new superteam without Wade.

I think you guys will get him in the end. The injury concerns for Rose are just too much.

Return to Houston Rockets
