Capela is the 25th pick, he will be getting $991,000 the first year. But it doesn't look like the Rockets will be signing him this year. They drafted him and will stash him right where he is so they can use that money for free agents.

$27,380,906 - $9,926,486 = $17,454,420 ... Parsons would have to be making more than he would be allowed (and way more than he is currently worth) to make this work.

the 9,926,486 figure is mainly from Lin ($8,374,646 counts against the cap... $15 mil is actual payment from the team)

we dont have a hard number for Parsons yet, and the Rockets aren't going to sign Capela. We COULD just for the trade, but that only adds $991,000.

Problem is Parsons would have to agree to sign with Minnesota and I don't see that happening when a number of other teams are going to be interested in him. Maybe if other teams are offering $10-11M and you guys offer like $13M…but I don't see why you would want to overpay and be stuck with a bad contract. Parsons' contract situation has always just made the likelihood of a Love to Houston trade incredibly slim.

Doesn't work. Can't we use Lin along with Asik's tpe to make a straight up trade?

We'll supposedly your gm has a buyer for Lin. So if he got shipped out for a second round pick like projected. It would free up space. And wolves would probably be interested in rights to your 2014 draft pick, parsons, and both first round picks next year for love.

Which if love agrees to drop po for 2016, that really isn't a huge amount for a top ten player. I could see this interest the wolves a lil bit.

I have to laugh.... I'm a Warriors fan, and we've obviously had a lot more dialogue on our board about a Love trade. And there is a common theme with this short thread - Minnesota wanting to dump Martin (and possibly other bad deals) and take all of the young talent, as well as future draft picks.

Your responses are the same as we've said - um, you can't get everything you want. Something has to give.

Seems the Wolves' front office is acting the same way the fans are. Which explains why no deal has been done yet.....

He's better than klay Thompson and the warriors didn't want to do that so why should the rockets

Parsons is not leaving Houston. Daryl Morey's life depends on it!

(I will waive this if No Parson means LeBron or Kevin Durant, otherwise he should stay a Rocket. And no team is going to be stupid enough to offer him a bloated contract. We let Parsons go to RFA so that we could let the market decide his value, and re-sign him. I think McHale loves Parsons as well, so I am 95% sure he will remain in H-Town.)

If parsons gets 12mil offer, rox wont likely match unless they strike out on melo and lebron.

That means the TWolves would have to not only negotiate with the Rockets, but also directly negotiate with Parsons' agent and compete with other teams on the open market to sign Parsons. Think of it as 2 different negotiation hurdles. The TWolves need to negotiate with the Rockets to get them to agree to a trade of Parsons. And the TWolves would ALSO have to negotiate with Parsons directly to sign with the TWolves instead of with another team, as if he was any other free agent. That's why it's called a sign-and-trade, and not just a trade. The Rockets have no ability to force Parsons to Minny, since he's a free agent.

If the Rockets matched a competing offer, or signed Parsons directly, they aren't allowed to trade him this off-season. It has to be a sign-and-trade if Minny wants him this off-season.

If there is no TWolves sign-and-trade agreement from Parsons' agent, who might rather test the market instead, it would be foolish for the Rockets to "make it publicly known he's immediately going to be shipped". Because then the Rockets would be stuck with a malcontent on their roster till they could trade him (Dec./Jan.15th if signing him directly or a full year later if matching a competing offer sheet). The Rockets just went through a yr with Asik as a malcontent, I doubt they would want to do that with Parsons as a malcontent on the roster for a year because they " make it publicly known he's immediately going to be shipped".
