Lin for McDaniels/Grant ALMOST Complete

Whispers around the Orlando Summer League are starting to come true. Last night, Hinkie and Morey spoke with each other, behind closed doors, for over an hour. They were seen shaking hands and my inside sources tell me that they heard Hinkie say that it was a "done deal" for Lin. Getting the details of the trade were tricky, but after last night's game, Morey was seen talking to both McDaniels and Grant. He shook both of their hands and said, "Welcome to Houston!" The news should be breaking some time this afternoon. Just thought you all would want to know. Also, here's some proof. I was able to take this picture of the two of them talking last night.

This is an awful trade for us. K.J. McDaniels is gonna be a stud glue guy in this league.

Morey giving up on a Max FA? Why are we taking contracts back?
This doesn't really make sense for either teams.
It's difficult trying to figure out moves on a tanking team like Philly. But you would think they would hold on to their 2nd round pick rookies.

I wanted McDaniels in the draft so sweet if true. Wonder what else is in the package likely Motie. Second round picks are cheap SO I doubt it really affects the cap space. Still needs to happen for me to think it is true

Now on 2nd thought, If it's true than it's a good trade for HOU. Morey can always flip the 2 rookies later for 2nd round picks.
HOU will gain 2 2nd round picks for Lin. Philly get Lin as 1 year rental.

Our return better be:
1. Your '15 first and the Pelicans '15 first.
or
2. Your '15 first and Clint Capela
or
3. Pelicans '15 first and Terence Jones

Rumor Hinkie was huge Lin fan and part of the reason Lin came back on the Rockets.
Hinkie is a mysterious dude.

That's quite the investigative journalism there. If true I wonder if Morey already has a verbal commitment from a FA?

those rookies haven't sign a contract yet so draft right count $0 against salary cap right?
maybe mcdaniels pick was morey pick all along
they just don't announce it unless they are for sure getting a star in return
so lebron to cleveland, bosh to houston, melo to new york, wade .... take max stay in miami or take veteran minimum and follow lebron to cleveland?

If the 76ers are getting rid of Grant & McDaniels you better believe Hinkie would demand a king's ransom.

Philly had 7 rookies on their roster. Just so you guys know.
8 if you count Noel or Saric.

Sounds quite plausible. The only question I have is if there is a cap hold for unsigned rookies. I don't believe so, hence our selection of Capela to stash for a year.

Neither of those three are not happening. Lin is not a waste and still is a valuable player. Yes they have to give up more since they are dumping the contract and taking back next to nothing salary wise. KJ is a second round pick so his value is not that high and the thought has always been the Rockets receiving a couple of seconds.
I am sure Motie has to be apart of the deal since they have to shed his salary and maybe Clint or a future first but not Tjones or the Pelicans pick. My hopes are the NYK second and Rockets or whatever other second the Rockets control with Motie.
Oh yeah plus whatever money they can send. I hear from some that it is 1.5 mil and others 3.3 mil

I don't think seconds count against the until they are signed and Capela still counts as a Mil against the cap until they stash him over seas. But would not be surprised if am wrong. Also always though the Rockets wanted KJ

Anyways I think this thread should be locked and then unlocked if actually does happen. Still don't believe he has a "source".

Well then, hopefully this trade isn't happening because it makes zero sense for
us to include assets while helping a team unload a contract.
Lin is not a waste and still is a valuable player.
Ha, Lin is an expiring contract and nothing more to us.

K.J. and Grant were 2nd round picks in a loaded draft. Both were mocked in the 1st in various times throughout the year and would be firsts in this upcoming, less deep draft.

I'm told that the Rockets are actually including the Pelicans first round pick and a future second, rather than their own first round pick.

if we really get bosh and parsons back then this is okay
this year 2nd round is better than future 2nd anyway

Philly has done nothing but tank. Going around collecting picks and rookies doesn't mean jack. The team eventually has to at least reach the Cap floor.
Considering that Philly is equal if not bigger market than HOU. Hinkie has to make some kind of move to attract fans. You can't live off NBA welfare profit sharing forever. You can't treat every non-rookie like an expiring. You eventually have to take games seriously.
