Look at all the pretty little profit centers!

Regular season gate receipts, minus taxes and certain charges including those related to arena financing
Broadcast rights
Exhibition game proceeds
Playoff gate receipts
The value of all complimentary tickets, minus "excluded complimentary tickets" (1.6 million tickets in 2011-12, increasing by 50,000 each season thereafter)
Novelty, program and concession sales (at the arena and in team-identified stores within proximity of an NBA arena)
Parking
Proceeds from team sponsorships
Proceeds from team promotions
Arena club revenues
Proceeds from summer camps
Proceeds from non-NBA basketball tournaments
Proceeds from mascot and dance team appearances
Proceeds from beverage sale rights
40% of proceeds from arena signage
40% of proceeds from luxury suites
50% of proceeds from arena naming rights
50% of the proceeds from team practice facility naming rights
Proceeds from other premium seat licenses
Proceeds received by NBA Properties, including international television, sponsorships, revenues from NBA Entertainment, the All-Star Game, and other NBA special events.

I'll take 3.

You know what? When trying to cite part of an article, it seems it would well behoove me to actually... include the link.

I wonder how much Les will sell the team for eventually. He is 70 now.
He bought the team for $85 million in 1993
Forbes says the franchise value is $443 million in 2010 and $775 million in 2014.
and his net worth is 1.2 billion

Makes Parsons' $45 million seem like pocket change. Pay some luxury tax Les!
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

One thing that's going to very silently play into these negotiations, though almost certainly on behalf of the owners, inflation is NOT 2.1%.

Damn I love watching labor negotiations. The way the NBA infiltrated union leadership during the last impasse was both fully expected and great fun to watch.

Meanwhile, the HFD pension thing that's been going on the last several months is my version of a popcorn-munching blockbuster.

It's economic kabuki theater.
Man, why'd I have to say that? Now I want to go play this:

Too bad it's terrible.

I bring this up because of all the "overpays" this offseason. By my estimation, the value of the dollar has halved since somewhere around 2003-2007. Then consider that in 2006 (iirc), an Ariza/Parsons type player was making between 4m and 8m (e.g. Gerald Wallace, who was better, at 5m in 2005, Boris Diaw way overpaid at 9m in 2007)

Between the new TV contract and inflation, Parsons may well be a bargain in 2 years, crazy as it sounds.

I see the TV contract revenues doubling again, some nice skulduggery to manipulate the BRI numbers, and the cap moving from 62 to around 80-85 being seen as a HUGE win for the players in spite of just having had a 25% net pay cut at the time of the agreement signing.

This is going to be SO fun to watch. As always, I'm rooting for the players.
