Scouting Report Request: Fransisco Garcia

Post#1 » by KneeJerk » Fri Jul 18, 2014 6:51 pm

Hi there, I'm a Raptors fan and I was just wondering if I could get a scouting report on Garcia. With teams prioritizing two way players and "3 and D" wings, it surprises me that Garcia isn't a more talked about player. I was hoping the Raptors would make a play for him, but maybe I'm missing something. What does everyone on the Rockets board think of him?

He's a 3 and D player who is neither good at 3 or D.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

Agree with Sasaki, he has strengths there, but it seems his best years are behind him. He may be able to contribute in spurts though, he had good moments for us in the playoffs two years ago.

An occasional spark off the bench perhaps when conditions are good, but I wouldn't look for consistency.

Solid 5th-6th wing. Doesn't rebound as much as you'd like for a 3, isn't a quick as you'd like for a 2. Knows his limitations though. Smart. Tough. Good guy. Can step up for a few games if needed, but you don't want to rely on him to perform for 82 games as a key rotation player.

Well if you had Novak on your team who is no longer there then Garcia wouldn't be an upgrade IMO. Great midrange shooter and won't back down defensively despite being a bit slow laterally just like Novak, but Novak was the better shooter.

Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.
