Realistic Trade/FA Targets

Injuries seem to be piling up. Not just for Houston, but around the League. I can't tell yet which teams are definitely going to be buyers or sellers because so much is fluid and it is still very early in the regular season.

We've all heard some names out there. Corey Brewer, for one. The question about him will Minnesota be hesitant to part with him now that Martin is out?

There are the oft-mentioned names like Ryan Anderson, Ersan Ilyasova or Paul Milsap; but are those teams actually looking to part with them?

On the free agent market I keep hearing about Emeka Okafor, if he comes back well from the injury. The question there is "will he come back well from the injury?"

On our side I don't know who we are looking to move. Motiejunas is a name I'm always seeing in trade idea discussion, but hasn't he proven himself to be very valuable to this team so far this season? Moving him at this point would create a gap and not address depth concerns.

It seems that our team's most valuable trade assets at this time are the Lin TPE & Picks. Who will be in the market for those?

Are we still legally required to make a deal with the Kings every season? What about the Knicks? Surely we don't have all of their second round picks yet.

What are you guys thinking, because I'm drawing a big, ol' blank on this front.

Brandon Bass perhaps is more available than the PFs you mentioned. fits into the Lin TPE. maybe add the NO pick or KNicks 2nd rounder?

I tried exploring trades for Carl Landry.

I got nothing either. The teams that are doing well will keep the players we want.

Meh, stay the course at this point. TPE is probably more valuable come trade deadline.

Channing Frye from ORL? Can't be traded until 12/15 but would make a good PF/backup C.
They've got 3 young PF's in Nicholson, O'Quinn and rookie Aaron Gordon.
Vucevic is their center and they signed him to a big extension starting next year.

He's making 8.1m this year , 7.8m next year and then 7.5m in the third and final year of his contract

I think an under the radar acquisition could be Ak47. TPE for Ak47 straight up should work.

He could play the 4 for us.

Would not mind AK47, his off ball cuts and passing would fit well on the Rockets offense & he still has quick hands on defense.

He is also two teams removed from the Jazz, so no problems there. Wouldn't want to use the TPE on him.

Cisco for AK47 would work, but Cisco would have to agree.

Frye would be fantastic but I'm not sure what the Rockets give up for him.

I remain hopeful about Ilyasova and Henson.

Henson would be amazing, doubt he is available.

What do you guys think of OJ Mayo & Wolters?

Could be an interesting addition but hardly a solution.

I still think about Corey Brewer and what an effective upgrade from Garcia he'd be. Brewer and Harden would be tough together, but Rockets still have big man needs if these guys can't get healthy.

No Illysova! The guy has not bounce back and much give any minutes he would take to Papa. And not God no to frye! I believe he is having a awful season.

I am more open to trading Jones over Motie these days.

There are plenty of bench players the Rockets target on the nuggets and Hawks. D. Carroll and Pero Antic are the two I'd like to see in rocket gear. Maybe a highly protected future first that likely becomes 2 seconds plus another second.

Ilyasova has been playing much better but was recently injured. That said, Motie has really been strong and probably solidified his spot on the roster.

No way to trading Jones. No way.

I also doubt the Hawks trade a productive player right now since they are one of the better teams in the East. They are a SF away from being pretty good.

This all brings me back to upgrading from Garcia. He continues to be the weakest link.
