2015 NBA Draft Thread

Post#1 » by texasholdem » Sat Feb 21, 2015 6:45 pm

So Rockets traded the DEN 2nd rounder for KJ McDanz.
But we kept the NOP 1st rounder (currently #13) and the NYK 2nd rounder (currently #31)

DraftExpress has us taking Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky with the 13th. He's a 7 footer who can shoot outside (any thoughts on him Nebula?)

He's having a very good season and he's a college senior, something Morey used to like which might scare off other teams. He'll be 22 in April.

If not Kaminsky maybe Willie Caulie Stein, if he's available. I think a center should be our priority since Dwight is often injured and he might leave after next season also. Maybe move up to get Myles Turner from UT.

If we go for a PG with the 13th pick maybe Isaiah Taylor? Jerian Grant? Not a great PG class this year outside of Mudiay so point guard need might be better addressed through trades or free agency.

If we keep the 31st pick maybe take Andrew Harrison. He's a 6'6 PG from Houston area. Probably will come out as a Sophomore. Andrew needs to work on his shooting though. Both he and his twin brother Aaron are having sophomore slumps.

Center and Point guard please. No power forwards. No small forwards. No shooting guards. Please no Best Player Available bullspit Morey.

Next year roster
F: Ariza, Brewer
F: Motie, Jones, Capela
C: Howard, #13 pick
G: ???????, Prigioni, Johnson
G: Harden, McDaniels
unknown futures: Smith? Papa? Beverley? Terry?
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Kaminsky is nice and can move and shoot but has always been bothered by bigger players. I don't see Frank ever being a starter in the NBA but might be a solid reserve since he does have a strong offensive game.

My vote would be Jerian Grant right now. I like Bobby Portis too, but I'm assuming Capela will get more run next season.

Return to Houston Rockets
