Lats night vs cavs mchale stumbled upon goldmine... During several past months I remember countless fans screaming in desperation ariza should just concentrate on defense and stop shooting alltoghether... its the only way he could be a plus cause his terrible offense negates everything good he does on defense
Well last night Ariza played just like that and imo he was a game changer...and we didnt missed his 3pt shooting at all...
take notice McHale!

if you watch the game
you see there are few possessions ariza can jack up the 3
but he didn't and he drive in and then pass it out when opportunity is not there
i don't know this is all himself or coaching

I see Ariza's role as not only there for the defence but to help spread out the range of attacking option for Harden. If every team knows the only person who is going to take a 3 is Beverley or Harden, it makes it so much easier to defend. 33.7% for 3 isn't that bad. Its as good as 50% for a 2 in terms of point.

Trevor Ariza has been a major addition to this team and a much stronger piece that Parsons. Yesterday he showed his value yet again and he'll be ever more important down the stretch as a wing defender.
He and Brewer are a strong combo.

I don't know where this notion came from that Ariza can't shoot 3s. He's shooting at the team average. Keep jacking them up.

33.7 isnt that bad it was horrible....his chucking was a huge momentum and game kiler whole season long....theres no stat for that yet but for those who knows basketball theres no need to wait for it we already know.......we would be no 1 in the west now if only ariza has been a more under control like last night...your use of statistics is as horrible as arizas chucking of 3s....

he was taking shots from more efficient players... we will be more efficient with those players taking these shots...

The Rockets definitely want Ariza shooting 3s. No doubt about it.

if u looked into it you'd see he was below avg in nov/dec then in jan he bumped up to borderline average at 34%.
i dont think his problem is shooting too many threes though. he's playing too many minutes. 38mpg in nov and 40 in dec. in jan it went down to 31, now back up to 36 in feb. if he's gonna guard the other teams best wing scorer all game long then hes legs are gonna be dead tired at the end of hte game, that messes with his shot. keeping his minutes down would solve that problem and we could by playing brewer AND kostas. for w/e reason kostas is stuck on the bench though. he and brewer are basically the same at 3pt shooting, both play good defense, can pass well, run the floor. kostas can do some small ball pf. he's also getting 4+mil this and next season. shouldnt be rotting on the bench for no good reason

Ariza does seem to have a higher usage rate than in Washington. Also, he's not shooting from the corner as much, but on the arc.
We really need a good PG to distribute the ball better for catch and shoots. I think it's not a bad idea to rotate Beverly/Prigs as starters depending on the situation.

That's a dramatic deviation, but as long as he defends like he is, I'm not concerned. His shooting averages will normalize over time.

Ariza's last 3 games: 1 for 14 from three point line. (0-3, 1-7, 0-4)
