Who do you hope we get with #18? What position do we need the most?

I'm thinking we either go for a PG, or a stretch-4, or if there's a serious talent that somehow slips to us then snag him.

For PG i hope we get Cameron Payne. I think he will get drafted in the late lottery once workouts are done, but hopefully his size scares teams away. I really like his feel for the game, and i especially like his personality. Personality-wise he kind of reminds me of Jason Terry. He's a bit small and will not be a threat to score inside, but he can score in a variety of other ways and is a crafty playmaker. He kind of reminds me of Mike Conley a bit. That'd be a steal.

Another guy i would be ecstatic to draft is Bobby Portis. He can stretch the floor but also defend the P&R aswell. He models is game after Kevin Garnett, and we will be able to rely on him to provide heaps of energy and winning spirit. I know we already have Terrence and D-Mo, but i think we can afford to trade one of those 2 for a legit PG if we draft Portis. I can foresee Portis being a starter in the league someday.

Hmm a short PG from Murray State, didn't Morey just trade away one of those?

Jerian Grant or Delon Wright or George De Paula all nice PG's with size. Portis is OK as a PF but yeah there's a logjam.

Wonder if we can package #18 and #32 to move up to the 14-15 range.

Delon is another guy i'd love to have on the squad. I need to learn more about Grant and De Paula though.

I would probably prefer to keep #18 and #32 than trade up to just 14-15. The talent is basically the same around that area.

i'm actually more interested in adding spot up 3 points shooter than a PG through draft

RJ Hunter (he's like Kevin Martin lite)

Robert Upshaw is one of those high risk high reward guy
lot of talent but got lot of personal issue
after Royce White i don't want to take another risk like this

Yeah, cocaine is a hell of a drug. Pass on him at #18.
Maybe in the 2nd round though...

I haven't paid attention to this years potential draft class. I have no idea what they plan on doing, but I'm thinking that this pick is traded.

I just mean regardless of position. If you're looking to develop a player then position shouldn't matter.

I'd rather see that than overreach on a player at a position of perceived need.

If the Rockets took best player available in 1992 we'd have taken Harold Miner over Robert Horry but we desperately needed a SF since Buck Johnson sucked and Matt Bullard wasn't starter material. Rockets would have never won those two championships.

unfortunately our GM is Morey
that's what he been doing since he's the GM of the Rockets
i have no big expectation from the draft other than hope some high prospect drop to his lap
i'm looking forward to what he can pull out of his hat this offseason without cap space
will he trade Ariza to clear cap space to go after LMA or Love?

Best Player Available is an empty, meaningless term.

I think this pick will be traded for a veteran point guard, ie Lawson, Teague, Lowry, Jennings, etc.

the pick when thought is going to be lottery pick didn't get us Dragic
i doubt now it will get us any of those players mentioned above

draft best available is not really empty meaningless term
it basically mean draft the one with the highest ceiling available

Wow something we finally agree on!

Draft either a PF or Center and then make a trade for a star PF or PG. It's nearly impossible to pick up a decent PG out of a draft from #18.

forget the draft, just package the 18th with jones, kostas and filler for a starting pg. we got nick and capella as prospects, thats enough for a team in win-now mode. with the 18th pick we wont find anyone that can be a rotation player until at lest his 2nd year. dont wanna keep wasting dwight's last prime years

I say we trade up for Frank Kaminsky.

Have him play the 4 and stretch the floor. He is a sure fire stretch 4 which decent rebounding and very good shot blocking.

Plus at 7 foot + .

Moreys gonna do some stupid **** and trade ariza away for a point guard and package some future first round picks.

But I've been a fan of Kaminski since 2 seasons ago that kids got some serious upside.

What do y'all think?

we already got a loaded pf/c rotation. we need to subtract from those two positions. hopefully smith signs for cheap so jones can be packaged for a pg. dmo is looking like he's gonna be a stretch 4 anyway, and his defense is underrated.
