Have we seen this before in Houston?

I think that we may have a pretty unique situation right now in the professional sports scene in Houston.
Every one of our three major sports has at least one guy on the roster who is considered by pretty much everyone to be an exceptional talent.
J.J. Watt for the Texans
Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve for the Astros
and, of course, James Harden for the Rockets
And they are all under 26 years of age, which is even more impressive!
JJ & James are both in MVP discussions, Altuve is an All-Star (and just became the first Astros player with multiple 200 win season) and Correa has taken MLB by storm and is a legitimate ROY candidate. For those of you who don't follow the Astros closely, trust me: Correa is the real deal!
All of the teams in this town have impressive young talent. Let's just hope that they manage to capitalize on their talents and not get a repeat of what we saw with Andre Johnson with the Texans.
The future is bright for all of Houston's teams!

That is cool for Houston sports, but im more of a scoreboard type of fan. I prefer to see the team do well rather than watch a great player do well. The Astros are finally getting it back together after a terrible decade, but they're headed in the right direction, and the Texans.... well yeah, they have JJ Watt.
Its funny that you brought up Andre Johnson because I can see the exact same thing happening to Watt. The Texans management just dont know how to build a team. Thats all ima say about them because I dont want to bring the Texans bad juju to this Rockets forum.
Im sorry if I derailed your thread, but I guess im still angry about yesterdays Texans game.

I think it's possible this Rockets roster is the best Houston has ever put on the court, top to bottom.

Rafer-Tmac-Ron-Scola-Yao plus Shane off the bench, when healthy, will always be the best lineup. All prime time. No hack-a-dwight danger.

I feel like Warren Moon, Hakeem, and Biggio and Bagwell were all around the same time period

Any lineup with Hakeem will always be the best lineup ever.

I said roster top to bottom. Currently this team is already very superior to the Yao and Mcgrady team.
I also think this team is deeper than Dreams and has two HOF players themselves.

What little I had I lost when I looked over your roster. All jokes aside, I thought you might have had the two best off-season deals. First that ridiculous Beverly contract and then getting Lawson for nothing. Didn't love the draft (I'm not as sold on Harrell as some). Either way, Rockets are for me, a top 5 league pass team this year.

Between the Warriors, Rockets, Thunder, Spurs, Clippers & Grizzlies the West will be so incredibly competitive this year.

Thought your original post was sarcasm, maybe not?
Beverly had injury concerns. From his pre-season look he seemed to improved his shooting stroke a bit. Deal is a steal. Lawson looked legit so far, of course we need to wait for RS to see if his defense would get exposed or not. His drive and kick, up to this point, has work seamlessly into our offense system.
Both Dekker and Harrell are long term projects, don't think they are ready this year for any contributions. How long did it take for you guys to develop Draymond? Guys like those, takes a few years of grinding in the NBA to fully blossom.

Haha no, was not being sarcastic. That does explain your original reply though, I was thinking "Man Rockets fans are intense, you pay their team compliment and they call you stupid." Yeah Beverly was my favorite deal of the off-season. I like Decker ok, liked him more than some of the other options at 18. Harrell was nice value at 32 so I can't fault them but I just don't love him as a prospect (There were a couple people on the W's board who were determined that he should go in the lottery and it kind of soured me on him). He could turn into a nice player but it's disturbing how little he's developed from age 18-age 21. Still he works his butt off and has a killer wingspan so he should stick.

That's the closest I can think of, but I'm still talking about a group of guys who are all in the young stage of their career.

Moses and Earl were only 25 in 1980 like James and JJ. Nolan was 33 but he retired at 46 so he was still relatively young at that point.

thanks Nebula. i haven't been here in awhile. i've watched the preseason games so far but haven't really been too excited about the NBA season so far, even with the Rockets looking very good on paper so I thought maybe reading some posts here would help me get back into it. Hoping you are right about Dekker and Lawson helping out the team.

That's a good point about Nolan Ryan. He doesn't age like normal human beings.

Hey buddy, you better get ready. I'm predicting this team wins 60+ games and a title even with a tough West.
Ty will be a major upgrade and Dek probably won't see much time, but I'm still very high on him long-term. He's a special kid.
I'm most excited about Capela. This dude is ready to step in whenever Howard is out, although I imagine Howard will play a ton this year. And most the crew is back from last season with a bitter taste from the WCF.
You have 1 week to get ready!
Good to have you around again.
