I was considering (if New Orleans continues to struggle) going after Ryan Anderson.

Houston Out

Jones or Motiejunas
Beverley
Thornton

Houston In

Anderson
Cole

Anderson gives a steady shooter at the PF spot and Cole can back up Lawson. I'm not quite comfortable giving up so much but Anderson is a very steady gunner.

i wouldn't mind going after conley in free agency next yr when the cap goes to 90mil. this means the option for ty would not be picked up, but conley would be a great fit. personally, i wouldnt mind conley and lawson, but that wouldnt be financially possible.

Brewer, Tjones, Terry for Anderson, Cole would work better. Anderson and Cole are free agents this coming offseason.

Brewer is too valuable imo.

And I'm still unsure about giving up Jones instead of Motie. Jones gives the Rox better small ball options.

This trade might seem a little unrealistic maybe, but I have been lobbying for someone like Paul Millsap for a few years now. I think him and Dwight would work perfect together. Millsap is a great rebounder and defender that can help Howard out. Plus he can shoot the long range shot. I don't think he will leave the Hawks anytime soon, but I would something like Tjones, PBeverley, and maybe Harrell or Dekker for Millsap and Schroeder. Schroeder and Motie, along with Brewer, Capela and Thornton can lead the second unit. Schroeder is a better playmaker than Bev and Motie would get his touches in the post. While Millsap would gel well with the starting unit. I doubt the Hawks would make this deal, but a fan can dream right :)

Just wondering who would trade Howard for Cousins.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Watching us against the Mav's right now... I'll trade anyone for a bunch of D-Leaguers, at least they would show some heart at the chance to play in the NBA...

Is there any way that the Daryl Morey decides not to invest the long term money into Dwight Howard and opts to let him go for cap space to build around Harden in the 2016 and 2017 off-season's and possibly get two stars via free agency around Harden if Howard's health remains questionable and his impact on the court translating in terms of wins is minimal?

It's entirely possible. I guess that it will all depend on how much money Dwight is seeking.

I agree it's entirely possible, however there is little doubt Morey will utilize the asset if that's the case.

That said, I think Howard has been good on the floor and with the team. He's getting very few touches now in favor of Harden and yet still brings it on the boards and defensive end. I actually think part of the problem is him getting too few touches.

But Morey will always try to maximize asset value.

Hawks get:
Dwight Howard
Patrick Beverly

Rockets get:
Jeff Teague
Tiago Splitter
Thabo Sefolosha
Justin Holiday
2018 Minnesota Timberwolves First Round Draft Pick

If you renounced Terrence Jones and kept Donatas Motiejunas instead then waived Ty Lawson's non-guaranteed contract, you would have $18 Million in cap space in 2016 plus all the assets you receive in this trade expire in 2017 giving you crazy cap space to build around James Harden.

Given Capela's emergence, trading Dwight early on could be a GREAT option.
Who could Dwight even be traded for?
Morey 2020.

Is there any way to get J.J. Watt & Carlos Correa on this team?

If the Rockets miss the playoffs this year and this summer, both Kevin Durant and LeBron James sign deals with 2017 opt outs then I see Morey looking at it like not spending money on a 4 year deal with a first year of $29.5 Million an asset within itself. Morey could then waive Ty Lawson's non-guaranteed contract and let either Terrence Jones or Donatas Motiejunas go and match any offer for the other followed by trading for and/or signing as many 1 year contracts as possible then likely miss the playoffs again in 2016-17 again, but have MASSIVE 2017 cap space when Durant, LeBron, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Kyle Lowry, Gordon Hayward and tons of other talents will be available. The Rockets would have enough cap space to team any one or possibly two of those guys with James Harden, Donatas Motiejunas, Clint Capela and the two lottery picks from 2016 and 2017.
