Is the tank in?

I'm not going to post a transcript of the latest thing that Stephen A Smith said, but he is alleging that the Rockets are now actively tanking games, and it is being done on the order of upper management. He is claiming that the players are not tanking, but JBB is being told who to play and which plays to run.
Normally I don't listen to SAS, but could he be onto something here? Is there a grand conspiracy to get the season over with and keep the draft pick?
Or are they just a bad team?

The Rockets don't run plays. Are they trying to protect their draft pick? Is it u protected next year?

Good point about the plays.
Houston will lose this year's draft pick if they make the playoffs. It will go to Denver as part of the Lawson deal. If they miss the playoffs they keep the pick.

I doubt it, I think JBB is just bad haha they really should tank now though, say Harden is out for the rest of the year with "knee soreness" or something like that

Is it unprotected next year?

2016 top 14 protected, becomes 2017 2nd round.
This move has made sense since we dropped Lawson. We have no business being in the bottom of the playoffs with a 1st round pick at stake. It's time to drop minutes on players who will not be with the team next year (Howard, Jones) and give them to developmental players like DMO, Capela and McDaniels.

I think they are quitting on the season as a group after the Dallas loss.
I'd have no problem shutting Harden down.

Since 1971 it's happened 12 times out of a possible 180 chances so I wouldn't call that "tons of times" more like a handful but yes it's happened, though only 6 times since the NBA expanded to 16 teams into the playoffs in 1984
Thunder went from conference finals in 2014 to lottery in 2015 (Durant only played 27 games due to injury)
Suns went from conference finals in 2010 to lottery in 2011
Timberwolves went from conference finals in 2004 to lottery in 2005
Bucks went from conference finals in 2001 to lottery in 2002
Bulls went from NBA champs in 1998 to lottery in 1999 (lost Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Phil Jax. to trades or retirement )
Spurs went from conference finals to 1983 to no playoffs in 1984
Kings went from conference finals in 1981 to no playoffs in 1982
Sonics went from conference finals in 1980 to no playoffs in 1981
Rockets went from conference finals (East) in 1977 to no playoffs in 1978.Suns went from conference finals in 1976 to no playoffs in 1977
Bucks went from conference finals in 1974 to no playoffs in 1975
Warriors went from conference finals in 1973 to no playoffs in 1974

The Jazz throwing a wrench in the tank. Losing to the clippers who were resting all of their starters.

SAS is all BS
if the upper management really want to tank game they would have done it long time ago
remember those consecutive years with 14th pick?

i dont see the need for making the playoffs...they will get trounced....might as well keep that 1st rd pick for lawson and use it in a trade this summer and also have a 2% chance of getting Ben Simmons...yeah, 2% is better than nothing.

This is a crucial decision for the T'Wolves. Not only do they need a coach to continue the development of their core, but they need someone who can then push them to and through the playoffs.
If I am the GM, I'm at Scotty Brooks.

Why are you talking about the Twolves in a Rockets thread/forum?

We were actually joggling with Chicago for a better lottery position. Until we realized the battle was lost, we were like 'nah Chicago you can have it'. Unfortunately Utah suffered the consequence.
