Yes or No question.
Does he opt in and take the big money for one year; or does he go fishing for a lower-paying, but possibly longer lasting deal?

He'll go wherever harden isn't and maybe go with Parsons back to Orlando
Considering his injury history and the cap going up he goes for a longer deal

It greatly depends on who the coach is.
Those of you who what the return of JVG will also see JVG get Dwight to opt-in.
If it's JBB, Dwight will definitely opt out.

Hopefully the Rockets can get some value out of him.

And it's painfully obvious he doesn't like it here

Zaza Pachulia is a free agent. If Dallas signs Dwight he should be available. Good backup for Capela?
Dwight's game and value should improve if/when Adam Silver and the owners decide to change the hack rules this offseason.

He''s opting out.
This will be his last big contract, so for him to opt in for a year and have another crappy impact season is dumb.

To me, Dwight seems very dedicated to the defensive end of the floor and basically got discouraged as others weren't as focused.
That said, Dwight struggles on offense so the same frustration is focused on him. I think it's best he find a better fit.

This is very weird. Howard wants the ball in the post. When teammates pass him the ball in the post, but he suck in the post. Whenever he can't score he will commit stupid offensive/technical foul. He is also afraid going to the line so he try to avoid contact when in the post. So mentally weak.

When he was working closely with Dream, there was a minute that his post production starting getting pretty interesting but then feel apart this season.
If I was coach, I'd have Dwight practicing 3pt shots a ton in practice so the FT is less intimidating. The guy should be able to develop a little face up jumper from the elbows but never has.

Remember he is Dory. He got short term memory. He forgot what Hakeem told him 3 min ago.
He actually shoot 3 in warm up. He also practice lot of free throw and shoot good percentage. He just can't knock them down in actual game.
Other than mental weak, I don't know what else is his problem.
He is 30, he should be mature enough to know the basic basketball fundamental like boxout, but he don't.
Getting older and losing his athleticism will only get worse for him.
I don't want him here even for veteran minimum and I'm serious.

Capela as the starter, laughable.

Opt out, the NBA is a business first and foremost.
You'd have to be an absolute idiot not to take a max contract at this stage in his career.
There are plenty of teams that will want this Dwight after his new demeanor.
The new D12 is going to be himself, smiling and hardworking and trying to win a championship with a team that he has the best chance of winning a championship with.
I don't see him as a Rocket, at this point Rockets have Harden and a team of former Rockets on the roster.
The rockets either rebuild around harden or trade harden and blow it completely up.
With the Rockets falling behind the coaching search as many coaches are already being snapped up - I see a lot of mercenaries looking for paychecks being signed OR kept.
Moreyball has failed, Steph Curry and the Warriors have singlehandedly dismantled this multi-year experiment.

Id be too, if you got a Superstar that can't or wont play Defense every posession, I'd be the same, i dont know if D12 will learn how to hit free throws this summer but I can see why he'd decide to opt out.

Listening to Jason Terry's interview really exposed what a whinny bitch Dwight has been this season. As Terry said some people( meaning D12) must know and understand their strength and weaknesses and play accordingly. Dwight needs to stick to the pick and roll and not any post ups

Definitely opting out if D'Antoni is the coach. Les basically saying a big FU to JVG and Howard.
