Harden being investigated for paparazzi altercation

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Thu May 19, 2016 7:37 pm

LAPD is investigating an incident where James Harden allegedly shoved a photographer and broke the guys finger.

I know we shouldn't condone violence, but paparazzi are pretty shady individuals. I'm assuming that this, like most other incidents like this, that there was some provocation.

I'm sure he was provoked, if true, Harden's a calm dude. And the Finger breaking happened because the camera guys finger was caught in the camera Harden allegedly pushed away

I don't care about the incident, but he loves LA, so trade him there now that the #2 pick is theirs.

I've been saying that for a long time. Time to start fresh.

I have zero problem with Harden hanging out in LA seeing as how he is from there.

I definitely would not want to trade a player for hanging out in his home town during the offseason.

I just hope that he treats this offseason differently and shows up in better shape than the start of last season.

Boston gets: James Harden, rights to Sergio Llull
Houston gets: Amir Johnson, #3 overall, #16 overall, #23 overall

That team has such a low ceiling. Bender is good but if the chance he ever gets close to Harden is ridiculously slim

He could be way better than Harden or could be a total bust. But you could say the same about Simmons or Ingram too. Harden didn't exactly set the league on fire in his rookie season either. Draft picks are risks just like trades and free agent signings. They don't always work out but sometimes they do.

Except way more risky and I don't know if you've watched much Bender but his ceiling does not appear to be superstar. People are only saying he can be the next Porzingis because he's lanky white and foriegn, their play styles aren't that similar

No one has watched much Bender because there's not a lot to watch. I'm not denying he's raw and a risk.

Players selected third, since James Harden himself: Favors, Kanter, Beal, Porter, Embiid, and Okafor.

James Harden is SOOO much better than any of those guys. It's not even close. The chances of Bender being an end of the bench guy are way higher than him being close to Harden. Ainge would get laughed off the phone by literally any GM.

Going the opposite direction players taken third from 08 to 2000: OJ Mayo, *Al Horford, Adam Morrison, *Deron Williams, Ben Gordan, *Melo (in one of the most stacked draft classes ever), Mike Dunleavy JR, *Pau Gasol, and Darius Miles.

* Made an all-star team

So that makes 5 players with all star appearances in 16 years, counting Harden, you could say Okafor might one day but with Porzingis and Turner already looking better than him I doubt it. So you'd trade a top ten player in his prime, locked up cheap, who was runner up MVP just last season for less than a 30% at getting a player who at least makes an all star team, along with one year of a decent defensive 4, and two late firsts? I'm sorry but that's TERRIBLE. I get that people get all excited about the upcoming draft and think everyone will be a star but chances are they won't.

Also, only one of those guys have ever made 1st team All-NBA. Guess who it is.

and Only one of those guys has had 13 turnovers in a playoff game.

Look, Harden has 2 years left and is likely gone after that. He will go to Miami to replace Wade or one of the LA or NYC teams. He doesn't care about winning right now. It's all about his brand. And I'd rather get some potential for him than nothing like what's about to happen to us with Dwight.

If we can go back in time 9 years, would you trade both Yao and TMac for Seattle's #2 pick? Conventional wisdom at the time would say no way trading 2 superstars in their prime for one 2nd overall pick would be a good idea but don't you wish we had done that in retrospect?

I don't know why you're limiting it only to players selected 3rd overall.
Stephen Curry (7)
Kawhi Leonard (15)
Klay Thompson (11)
Paul George (10)
Russell Westbrook (4)
Damian Lillard (6)
Chris Paul (4)
DeMarcus Cousins (5)
Kyle Lowry (24)
Draymond Green (35)
Paul Millsap (47)
Kevin Love (5)
Andre Drummond (9)

Logic in your first question: One bad game > years of season accomplishments

Logic in your second statement: there's a chance he will leave and we will be bad so why don't we just get bad now instead

Logic in your third statement: hey this outlier that happened one time is universal and works for everything

Also you're acting like making the playoffs every year and going to the WCF has no value. It definitely does. Only one team wins it all. Just because the team didn't doesn't make that iteration of the team a failure. Trading for a rookie that probably won't be as good probably pushes us further from that goal anyways so I don't really know what you're planning on achieving at that time.

Also both Calvkn Watkins and Feigen have written that it bothers Harden how Howard seems to be happy even though they kept losing. Doesnt sound like someone who doesn't care about winning to me. Apparently he was really pissed off about losing so much this year. Yeah he came in out of shape, that was bad. Doesnt mean he doesn't care about winning.

Wrong LA team to trade with, IMO. Giffin is not happy from reports this season.

I sure wish Houston had a first round pick this summer.

Return to Houston Rockets
