Is Clint Capela big enough to be a full-time starting C?

His rebounding ability and shotblocking prominence speak for themselves. The only question I have is whether or not it's optimal for a guy of his size to play full-time at the 5. Would he be better suited as a high priority reserve or to split time at the 4 and 5 ala Ed Davis?

I'm a big fan of his game, regardless.

He should never play the four. He's apparently put on already weight while practicing twice a day with the new development coach and if he isn't ready this year I'm sure he will be next year. The league is moving further and further away from big bangers down low so I think he will be fine. Nene can come in and guard the Al Jeffersons of the world

Yeah, Capela at the 4 is a horrible idea.

NBA makes some changes to hack a capela. That should help Clint some.

There are still some big monster centers like Rudy Gobert, Alex Len and that new draftee Georgios Papagiannis. Wish we had to tried to sign boban marjanovich as a back up instead of Nene.

The only reason Capela worked at the 4 for that short duration last year was because we also had Dwight, and I liked the defense that was those 2 + Ariza. But he just looks so much more natural in the paint then trying to stretch the floor. It looks like he's been working on his shooting but I'd much rather have him start at C that way we can find DMo and Beasley more minutes.

We really could have had Bogut but he'd rather play with a 37 year old Dirk than harden.

Really wish we could have grabbed him, but it opens up more time for Clint in the end I guess. Who are we even putting out there at backup for C ?

Bogut probably saw more opportunity for playing time & a better role in Dallas. I read those Dallas reports a spin trying to show that some players want to go there following their free agency failings and Dirk's recent comments

What did Dirk end up saying about it ?

Dallas doesn't seem like that good of a destination right now other than the fact that Cuban will be loyal to his players and back them up.

I dunno how loyal Cuban is since he didn't even try to bring Parsons back.

Dirk recently did an interview where he laments the Mavericks ability to draw big free agents. He suggested that perhaps people didn't want to play with him or that players did not like how Cuban broke up the 2011 team.

Personally, I can't see it being either of those things. Just bad timing for Dallas, in my opinion.

Poor Kam, I'm sure he is a bit angry that Bogut turned us down for Dallas... at least it wasn't for the Jazz.

IMHO Cuban is a better owner than Les
but at the end of the day he is still a business man
he is not loyal to his players
it is more Nowitzki is loyal to the team
he even let Terry go when his contract isn't even huge

There's a pretty big chance Bogut will be an offensive liability withoit the best spacing in the world around him. When teams can help on the pick and roll instead of being glued to shooters and guarding cuts first and letting their guys catch the ball at the three point line without fear will take away the only thing he does offensively

I don't know what it is , but Les really irks me. Would much rather have Cuban over Les for our owner but we have no control over that obviously. It was nice to see Les try and defend James during his press conference after we announced his contract extension at least.
