OT - Around Houston

I've been watching footage of the Weslayan/Bissonnet shooting this morning. My Mother lives in that area (not in town currently). I keep seeing people who I recognize on the news. It's really weird.

Glad your mom is safe. Hope none of her neighbors are among the injured. Sadly these incidents don't even surprise me anymore when they happen.

Yeah I work in that area at times when it's slow in other areas, apparently he pulled a gun on some people that came to his house that are sort of in my line of work...glad I've never gone to his house

Damn.
I was going to break your balls a little bit about your lack of picks this week, but then I saw this thread and just now read about the shooting incident.
Now I feel like more of a giant douche than I usually do.
Glad nobody was killed and hope the injured victims will be okay.

I flat out forgot about the picks with everything else going on the past few days. I'm looking forward to this month being over!

Sad news. Hope no one here or immediate family is hurt. I knew a girl that lived in the apartment complex on Bissonnet next to the HEB a block from there. Fortunately she moved away for her residency but otherwise that's on her route to the LA fitness gym on Wesleyan.

Beating Louisville pisses me off so much since they **** lost to Navy and SMU. They could have been in the god damn playoffs.

Didn't think this deserved its own thread but Harden did a GQ interview.

I need to go to the grocery store, but now I'm worried that it will be overrun by doomsday preppers stocking up before the storm.
Stay dry, everyone!

Having lost 3 cars to flooding in Houston, I'd suggest finding the largest parking lot close to you and parking on one of the upper floors.

I just got off of the phone with someone who works high up in the Med Center. They are saying that they expect this to be worse than anything being reported.
Be safe, everyone.

My neighborhood always gets flooded even with just 3-4 inches of rain and the news is predicting 12-18 inches over the weekend. A little worried but I've at least stocked up on water and supplies (grocery stores were packed with people yesterday, super long lines).
Stay safe everyone!

Rockport, Port Aransas, Port O'Connor & Corpus got hammered in the opening stages. Now we move to the flooding
I just heard that while the system has downgraded to a Tropical Storm it is still close to a Category 1 (by wind speed which is a dumb measure). It looks like it is just going to linger in the central Texas Gulf Coast for days now. Houston is already hitting capacity even though we are still days away from getting the worst of it.
Everyone stay safe, be smart and all should be well.

It was raining so bad in my area for 1.5 hours. Water started to creep up 1/3 of my driveway, then the rain stopped. I should get another wave of rain in a few hours. At least this gives time for water to recede.
