Tonight will be the 20th game of this 2016/2017 season. What are your thoughts so far on Houston's biggest free agent signing of the past summer?

Someone just emailed me this highlight video from last night when the dude was on fire! 29 points, and he was shooting with so much confidence!




So far he is a better shooter than I had hoped for (and I had high hopes). I am impressed by his range, seeing as how he often launches shots from several feet behind the arc.

He is a much better rebounder than I expected; although I've read that is what he made his name on to start his career.

Thoughts on the big man who never met a shot he didn't like?

He's ok.

He hasn't been as bad on defense as advertised but he's been bad on the defensive glass. His shooting has been great but he's been pretty close to useless inside the arch, outside of his offensive rebounding which has been surprisingly good. I also wish he was less of a black hole and passed the ball more. But I think he just has horrible vision, example being his late pass to Clint that would've been a dunk but he took an extra two second to get him the ball wide open under the rim, allowing Curry to sneak in and get the steal from Clint.

Overall I am pleased with him but the end of this deal will still likely be awful. Since signing the deal I've felt like Morey is just using him to help the team get better immediately to attract free agents then will trade him after he piles up counting stats playing off Harden under MDA to some team like the Kings for space lol

Gordon > Anderson in every way possible.

he has been very inconsistent. i am bit disappointed in him not posting up more. it was suppose to be one of his strengths posting up and then that fade away..

trade him for AD...lol

Roided-up Matt Bullard 2.0 on a $20 million contract.

I don't guess that's an entirely bad thing. He fits a role, but there is probably room for improvement.

(Seriously though, the guys look alike right down to their 3' long horse heads)

I don't want to work in the post. Lacks strength and ball skills to do so. To many times I've seen him lose his drill or make a bad pass.

Also Anderson has passed on to many open threes.

I haven't gotten to watch many Rockets games this year, but I feel like in theory, he should work well with both D'Antoni and Harden.

he needs to mix it up a bit...he is now just spot up shooting . he needs to make the opposing player work a bit on defense every so often.

he needs to mix it up a bit...he is now just spot up shooting . he needs to make the opposing player work a bit on defense every so often.

He provides so much spacing by just standing there I'd much rather him just spot up. He isn't good at posting up or putting it on the floor. Having to guard someone two feet behind the line is much more disruptive than anything he can do on the floor

He does have great instincts as a rebounder, so I'm OK with him spending some time in the post.

I'd be all for it he actually if he ball skills to be effective in the post but he doesn't. I don't even like him ten feet from the basket because all he does is a pump fake to get his defender in the air so that he can jump into their chest. Or he loses the ball as he drives to the rim.

He posts up backing in slowly and does a fadeaway like Dirk. He did it quite a bit with Pelicans. I want him to do the same as a Rocket.

Yeah, but I've always thought Ersan Ilyasova could've filled that role pretty well, but at a way cheaper price. To bad Ersan wasn't available at the time, but Ryan has filled his role very well.

I beg to differ. Ryno is the superior 3pt shooter, but the the % and rate difference isn't a world's appart. In fact, their pretty close.
Per 100 positions
Ryan is .400% on 10.6 3PA's .564 TS% in Houston.
Ersan is .367% on 9.6 3PA's .575 TS% in Philly.

Keep in mind that Ryan has Harden and co. getting him good looks and feeds and Ersan has... not much at all in Philly. Ersan is the superior rebounder, a better man defender, and the better shooter from inside the arch in his career. Don't get me wrong, Ryno's shooting is a dangerous weapon for them and I don't think his 28 foot 3's could be easily replaced or replicated, but I think Ersan would've also feasted on 3pt opportunities while providing a bit of a better all-around game. The Rockets chemistry is off the charts right now though, and Anderson seems like a big part of that.
