Rockets Depth Chart (Work in Progress)

FREE AGENCY HAS BEGUN!!!
The Rockets made one of the biggest moves in the NBA before free agency began with the acquisition of Chris Paul from the Clippers. After free agency opened Morey didn't waste any time locking up one of the baddest men ever to rock the Rockets Red in Nene.
Let's keep track of the current Rockets roster over the next few weeks.
As of the time of this post:
G - James Harden / Bobby Brown
G - Chris Paul / Eric Gordon
SF - Trevor Ariza
PF - Ryan Anderson / Jarrod Uthoff
C - Clint Capela / Nene / Onuaku
Is there anyone I am forgetting? It is late and my head no work good now.
Just looking at the guys under contract at this time.
1/100

Taylor is signed but it's not a guaranteed deal.

Well, not movement in the direction that I wanted, but here is the current roster as far as I know:
G - Harden / Brown
G - Paul / Gordon
SF - Ariza / T.Williams
PF - Anderson / Uthoff
C - Capela / Qi / Onuaku
What positions would Taylor & Hartenstein go to? I know that the concept of "positions" is pretty old school for this Rockets team, but just trying to organize the guys in some manner.
The Nene news was an unexpected dick punch. Hopefully they get that worked out and the big guy comes back!

I have a feeling with Tucker signed that D'Antoni is gonna start Ariza at PF full time with Anderson either off the bench or traded.

I don't think anyone's going to take ryno without compensation. Tucker will likely close a lot of games over Ryno though

we really only have a shot at trading ryno to knicks for melo. i know morey tried it a couple of days ago and knicks rebuffed, but he needs to keep pressing. milsap is likely going to denver.

I'd rather trade Ryan to Phoenix for Tyson Chandler and Brandon Knight.

morey still wants to get a PF that can shoot 3s if he trades ryno. melo is the only one left that seems 'realistically' available.

As a warriors fan, rockets have me a little worried. If game is close at the end the rockets can close with Paul/Harden/Gordon/Arizona/Tucker. That is a scary 2 way line up that can actually match the death lineup in manu ways.

King joffrey and mirotic are both restricted but doubtful the bulls can keep both. They are power forwards who can hit three pointers. In retrospect we should have kept Mirotic instead of trading him for motiejunas.

i haven't checked out the list of other free agents still available...we'll see.

Tucker could start at the four just fine. He will probably be the backup four with some spot minutes at the three, much like Dekker.
If the Nuggets start moving guys for space Arthur would be a decent pickup

As of now:
G - Harden / Brown
G - Paul / Gordon
SF - Ariza / Tucker / Taylor
PF - Anderson / Uthoff / Hartenstein
C - Capela / Nene / Qi / Onuaku
Like Texasholdem points out, Ariza could eventually be the starting 4, but this is how I see it right now.

Suns waived Leandro Barbosa today. He played his first 5 years in the league for Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix and was 6th man of the year in 2007. He's no longer the 18ppg scorer off the bench but he'd be a good veteran guard to sign at age 34. He won a championship with Golden State in 2015.
He's Brazilian like Nene too. Would be a good signing if he clears waivers to replace Lou Williams.

Pretty sure Hartenstein is going to be in Europe for next year and they'll just retain his NBA rights like what we did with Qi last year.
Uthoff could be the new Matt Bullard, both are from U of Iowa and 6'10" , long range shooters.

It would be nice to get Bull 2.0.
I don't think that they can move Uthoff's contract for a while. The team may have plans for him.

As of right now is this a fair assessment?
Paul is an upgrade over Beverley
Tucker is an upgrade over Dekker
Too soon to compare Zhou & Harrell

I think Onuaku will be as good a third center as Harrell but in a different way. Harrell is a skilled offensive center, with decent defense and no rebounding.
Onuaku is a raw offensive center but a legit rim protector and good rebounder.

I have 0 expectations from Zhou Qi. I expect him to be nothing more than just a ploy from the FO to sell more tickets to the Asian community.
Onuaku imo has more potential and plays bigger than Harrell, so I'm looking forward to seeing him get minutes.
We still need another utility forward imo. I know nothing about Uthoff or Hartenstein to make any assessment.

I'll take a legit rim protector and good rebounder over offense without hesitation. I think they can score enough points, I want to see them control the boards and get stops when it matters the most! Besides, with the playmaking ability of Paul and Harden, that should lead to plenty of easy buckets for whoever is down low. Swiss Dream is going to be in heaven!
I liked Harrell, but seeing his complete inability to rebound sometimes drove me crazy(though not as crazy as seeing both he and Dekker ride the pine against SA for no reason other than Mikey D being a dummy, but why dwell on the past). The guy I will miss the most is Dekker, but I suppose the Tucker signing soothes that loss a tad.
